InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), the owner of the Crowne Plaza brand, has announced the signing of a franchise agreement with CPH Hotel Management A/S for the new Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers.

The new-build hotel will open in late summer 2009, comprising 365 guest rooms. This will include four Suites and 39 Club Rooms, all offering the high levels of comfort, service and amenities expected from the Crowne Plaza brand. The hotel will also feature a restaurant plus a contemporary bar and lounge. Designed with the needs of the business traveller in mind, the 3,000m² conference and events centre offers 20 meeting rooms, the largest of which can accommodate up to 800 delegates.

Situated a short Metro-ride away from down-town Copenhagen in the new Ørestad City, and with Copenhagen International Airport within easy reach, the new Crowne Plaza benefits from a prime location. Furthermore, given the proximity of Scandinavia's largest shopping centre - Fields - just across the street and the new PGA level Royal Golf Course only five minutes away, Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers is expected to appeal to both leisure and business travellers alike.

The new Crowne Plaza property is an integrated part of the 130,000m² commercial development Copenhagen Towers, developed by Sjaelsoe, one of Scandinavia’s largest property developers.

Robin Wicks, IHG’s Chief Operating Officer for Continental Europe, commented: “We are delighted to further demonstrate our commitment to the Scandinavian market with the introduction of our international Crowne Plaza brand to Copenhagen, Denmark. CPH Hotel Management brings great local knowledge to the relationship and we believe that working together on this exciting development will ensure that we can collectively deliver the warm welcome and quality experience that our guests count on us for.”

Allan L. Agerholm, CEO of CPH Hotel Management, added: “We are very pleased to be working with IHG as a strategic partner on this project and have no doubt that the combination of high service standards, strong location and comprehensive range of facilities will ensure the property greatly appeals to the discerning traveller."
