The new property from Rishi Sachdev, founder of London's Middle Eight and The Guardsman hotels, opens on 1 July 2023. It will not only benefit from its location in the heart of Marylebone, but will also convey all the values of luxury expected by a clientele seeking rarity.

The hotel is named after the Bodhi Tree, under which Buddha is said to have attained enlightenment. The BoTree emphasizes the values of 'truth, love and compassion'. These are values that the 300 employees of this new, iconic London luxury hotel will strive to embrace.

A privileged location for a remarkable design

"The location is really fantastic," enthuses Eva Mount, general manager of the BoTree. Indeed, the hotel is located in the heart of the vibrant Marylebone district and on the edge of the prestigious Mayfair district.

Just 30 minutes from Heathrow, travellers can enjoy the independent village life of Marylebone, while still experiencing the excitement of Oxford Street. Here, guests can walk to Hyde Park or stroll down Bond Street with its luxury shops.

The hotel embraces the soul of the neighbourhood, with two distinct facades on either side of Marylebone Lane and Welbeck Street. Originally built as a car park, the BoTree has honoured this history by retaining the red brick façade on Marylebone Street. The red bricks are a reminder of the heritage of this growing area. A very French quarter in the heart of London, where the many French restaurants and bakeries are popular with travellers and Londoners alike. The designers have drawn on the independent and authentic atmosphere of Marylebone to create the BoTree.

Amsterdam-based architects Concrete were driven by a desire to create a hotel with a philosophy of 'conscious luxury'. Renowned for their work on the W London, the W Osaka and the Sky Park Mongkok in Hong Kong, the designers placed an emphasis on sustainable materials for the BoTree.
From floor to ceiling, they have combined wood, soft and shimmering fabrics, hand-crafted carpets, greenery in all spaces and marble to create a perfect harmony. The living walls are present right from the entrance, complemented by wooden ceilings that offer guests a sense of immersive awareness from the moment they arrive. The result is a soothing and warm place, inviting to meditation and relaxation.
The emphasis here is on sustainable development, and energy consumption is monitored and managed by artificial intelligence. “It’s all about conscious luxury in this hotel” insists Eva Mount.

The BoTree, a Legend Preferred Hotels & Resorts

The BoTree will join the inner circle of a handful of new hotels selected to be part of Preferred Hotels & Resorts' Legend Collection, a brand that usually highlights a hotel's history, but here celebrates its connection to a local culture and the many nods to the history and soul of the area.

199 rooms and 29 suites, including nine one-bedroom suites, nine two-bedroom suites, a presidential suite and 10 junior suites, will be spread over eight floors. The standard rooms start at 24 sqm, while the presidential suite extends to 78 sqm and can be merged with adjacent suites to create a 350 sqm space.
The BoTree is designed so that an entire floor can be made private, offering maximum modularity in the configuration of its rooms. This makes it ideal for large families, delegations, etc., who can choose between double, single or twin rooms... Spaces’ customization is at the heart of the BoTree experience.

Each of the suites has its own balcony overlooking the hotel's entrance, which is remarkable for its tree of life look.
The architects have paid particular attention to the decoration of the rooms, revealing themed rooms, such as this music-themed suite, whose Sonos equipment will appeal to music lovers.

In terms of innovation, there is a judicious use of technology in the rooms to enhance the guest experience without overwhelming the guests. At the entrance to the room, a presence detection system provides fluidity for guests, who no longer need to use a key to turn on the lights. As for the guest room directory, they are accessible from the television screens installed in each room.

A destination of its own

The aim is to create a destination in London, and to achieve this, the designers have deployed an attractive entertainment offer, with two restaurants, a nightclub and a cinema.

While the area has a wide range of restaurants from Michelin starred to French, the BoTree has its own identity, and is leading the way with a 350-seat restaurant on two floors with a terrace on Marylebone Lane and a terrace on Welbeck Street. The second restaurant will rise to the eighth floor of the BoTree to dazzle guests with panoramic views of the London skyline.

The hotel is expected to quickly become a hub of London life, with a nightclub for up to 450 guests. The VIP area will be created on a balcony, ensuring that privacy is preserved. International DJs will play live sets, creating a vibrant atmosphere.
The venue should be ideal for all kinds of celebrations, and Eva Mount is counting on this exceptional room to attract the most prestigious events, such as fashion shows.

A cinema room dedicated to families or intimate events completes the entertainment offering.

The hotel does not have a spa, but is looking to partner with the Third Space wellness centre just around the corner to make any stay at BoTree a holistic experience.

Service at the heart of BoTree

Everything is carefully thought out to enhance the guest experience, and the personalization of the service enhances the guest's stay at BoTree. A Butler is available on each floor, offering services ranging from room service to shoe shining to laundry for guests.

Eva Mount has already stepped up her efforts to ensure that her teams deliver the most exclusive and natural service possible. She uses the Forbes Travel Guide as a benchmark, and is targeting the guide's four-star rating. The Forbes trainings have already started. “I’ve had Forbes five-star in my hotel before and four-star. I like how they train because they train in a very natural way. Which is good for guests, and it makes a big difference when you go into a hotel when there's somebody who's been Forbes’s trained. When you say “may I go to the bathroom?” and then get “please, this way”… It makes such a difference.“ says Eva Mount. “I don't like to run those formal 5 hotels, I much prefer to run a hotel where people are kind. And we'll have a conversation and be natural”, she added.

The BoTree team aims to make the BoTree a lifestyle hotel with a modern and authentic style, and with services that reflect all the codes of traditional luxury.

Update of September 06, 2023: The BoTree will officially open its doors on September 15, 2023.
