Raffles Beijing Hotel has been lauded as one
of the best new hotels in the world by both Condé Nast Traveler (U.S),
and Condé Nast Traveller (U.K). The hotel’s elegant French fine
dining restaurant Jaan has also been recognised in Condé Nast
Traveler’s Hot Tables 2007. These prestigious Hot Lists are guides to
the year’s top new hotels and restaurants, chosen after months of
evaluation by the magazines’ network of reporters who travel
incognito, ensuring an unbiased and objective review.

The 11th annual Condé Nast Traveler (U.S) Hot List features 138
hotels spanning 46 countries across six continents. Condé Nast
Traveler (U.S) gave Raffles Beijing Hotel the magazine’s “Hottest”
rating and observed that “Even standard rooms are filled with lavish textiles, vibrant Xinjiang carpets, and oil paintings of old Beijing… The service is
professional and attentive, with room valets who will open the breakfast buffet for an early
departure or send up homemade cookies at any hour.”

Correspondents from the magazine reviewed new restaurants in 30 countries and Jaan at
Raffles Beijing Hotel is among just 95 restaurants in the world selected for this year’s Hot
Tables. Condé Nast Traveler’s Hot Tables commends the hotel’s French restaurant for
offering “the city’s finest French cuisine”.
In the magazine’s U.K edition, Raffles Beijing Hotel is distinguished as the only hotel in
Beijing on its Hot List of the 65 best new hotels around the globe. In Condé Nast Traveller
(U.K), Raffles Beijing Hotel is praised for its “pervading sense of history thanks to a careful
interpretation of Beaux Arts style (result: grandeur without the ostentation)…All 171
bedrooms and suites are sumptuously decorated and there are 70 Raffles Inc Executive
Rooms for business people, all with access to a club lounge with wonderfully helpful butlers.
The modern French cuisine at Jaan is spectacular, and the city’s key historical attractions
the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square are nearby.”
“We are thrilled that Raffles Beijing Hotel has been recognised by the Condé Nast
magazines for its cultured luxury, as well as its high standards of service and cuisine that
Raffles hotels around the world are renowned for. These accolades affirm Raffles Beijing
Hotel’s place as the centre of the city’s social scene, just as it was almost a century ago,”
commented Mrs Diana Ee-Tan, Managing Director, Raffles Hotels & Resorts.
Said Mr Peter Wynne, General Manager, Raffles Beijing Hotel, “To be placed on three of
Condé Nast’s lists is a sound endorsement for Raffles Beijing Hotel. This is an enviable
position for any new hotel and we are immensely honoured.”
Raffles Beijing Hotel has rapidly earned international accolades since its re-debut in June
2006, after nine months of careful refurbishment. In January this year, Raffles Beijing Hotel
was also singled out by Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Report as the “Best New City Hotel” in
its 2007 Special Awards listing.
