Easter may have been early this year and the May bank holidays a little while off, but there are still plenty of reasons to celebrate April – here’s a selection of just a few from The Rocco Forte Collection:

Rocco Forte’s Hotel Savoy, Florence
Salman Rushdie’s latest book, The Enchantress of Florence, will be published on 3 April, depicting the city as a powerful and sensual place. Pay a visit yourself and discover how true to life the book is. Stay at the Rocco Forte’s Hotel Savoy, perfectly located on the Piazza della Repubblica, close to Florence's renowned landmark the Duomo and just a short walk from the Uffizi Gallery and the Ponte Vecchio. Designed by Olga Polizzi, the hotel is Italian elegance through-and-through; from its restaurant – one of the most popular in the city - right up to the fitness rooms with fantastic views of red roofs as far as the eye can see.

Rocco Forte’s The Lowry Hotel, Manchester
An exhibition of Asian artists, including South Korean sculptor, Gwon Osang and others whose work has never before been seen in the UK, will open on 5 April at various galleries in Manchester. The inaugural Asia Triennial Manchester (ATM08) will run until 1 June 2008 and promises to bring fresh art to Manchester. Continue this appreciation of culture by staying in Rocco Forte’s The Lowry Hotel – a bold contemporary architectural statement with its dramatic, curved, glass-fronted façade that stands next to Calatrava's landmark Trinity Bridge. The hotel also has one of the country’s best urban spas, offering exclusive and unique treatments and therapies by Carita, Espa and Ishi.

Rocco Forte’s The Balmoral, Edinburgh

The Edinburgh playhouse will be showing La Traviata and Madame Butterfly over the weekend of the 10–12 April. Combine these two classic operas. Opera tickets must be booked in advance through the concierge.

Rocco Forte’s The Charles Hotel, Munich

Say cheerio to winter at The Munich Spring Festival (11-27 April). With beer tents and typical Bavarian food, the festival is a mini version of the city’s more famous Oktoberfest - the only difference is that you can combine the beer tasting with a side order of culture; the festival coincides with The Ballet Week. Running from 12-19 April, the week will see three premieres of choreographies. Rocco Forte’s The Charles Hotel is located in the heart of the city next to the Old Botanical Garden so is perfectly-situated for all the fun and festivities. Its Munich’s Highlight package includes a ballet menu, whereby the starter and main course is served before the performance and dessert and coffee is taken in the bar afterwards.

Rocco Forte’s Hotel Amigo, Brussels

Celebrations for the 50th anniversary of Belgium’s Expo 58, the world’s first fair after World War II, will begin with a spectacular firework display at Brussels’ iconic Atomium on 17 April 2008. The date coincides with the start of Art Brussels, the major contemporary art fair put on at the Palais des Expositions by Art Brussel, giving not one but two reasons to visit! Stay at Rocco Forte’s Hotel Amigo, superbly located in the very heart of Brussels, adjacent to one of the most beautiful squares in Europe, Grand Place and within easy walking distance of the antiques district of Le Sablon.

Rocco Forte’s Hotel Astoria, St Petersburg

The Diaghilev Ball is a traditional Russian ball that will transport guests to the elegance and splendour of the early 1900s. To be held at Rocco Forte’s Hotel Astoria in St Petersburg on 27 April, the ball will see 200 people dancing the polonaise, the waltz and the mazurka before sitting down to an exquisite dinner and enjoying ballet performances and opera arias taken from the repertoire of Sergei Diaghilev’s ‘Ballets Russes’. The hotel will also host an exhibition of artefacts from the theatrical world, collected by Alexander Vasiliev, a fashion historian and acclaimed expert on the Belle Epoch. Tickets to the ball cost *1150 and proceeds will go to the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet. Rooms cost from *243 per night.
