Recently-opened restaurant ISSIMO is now serving authentic Italian ‘Executive Lunch’ menus, conceptualized by celebrity chef Salvatore Cuomo. JIA Shanghai, which has recently been short listed for Wallpaper Magazine’s Best Business Hotel Award 2008, opened the popular Italian restaurant in March in the heart of the business, shopping and entertainment area.

Served Monday-Friday, the three-course lunch with appetizer, pasta or pizza, dessert and coffee is priced at just 118 RMB. The four-course lunch with an additional main course at the rustic restaurant is 148 RMB.

Choose from an assortment of appetizers including deep-fried calamari, thin-sliced marinated salmon with red onions and caperberries or a selection of delicious antipasti. Then try one of the three authentic, award-winning Neapolitan pizzas or enjoy pasta options which include casarecce with Italian pork pancetta, tomato and pecorino cheese;

spaghetti tossed with clams, cherry tomatoes and garlic or home-made potato gnocchi with smoked ricotta.

Main course options on the four-course menu include pan-seared herb-crust tuna, pan-fried pork scaloppini with sage, prosciutto and marsala sauce or traditional Neapolitan meatloaf stuffed with ham and cheese. All are served with potatoes of the day and seasonal vegetables. Desserts to tempt you include traditional Neapolitan chocolate cake with vanilla sauce or carrot-almond cake with ‘after eight’ ice-cream.

To ensure that Issimo’s many frequent diners enjoy variety, the Executive lunch menus change every two weeks, on a rotational basis.

Designed like a “modern chalet”, the vibrant Italian restaurant ISSIMO has proved an immediate hit with the local and Italian communities and international celebrities since opening. Salvatore Cuomo specializes in the delicious, home-style Italian cuisine for which he has become renowned through his 50 restaurants and pizzerias in Japan and through his other restaurant in Shanghai, The Kitchen Salvatore Cuomo, also extremely popular with the Italian community.

Also on offer Monday – Saturday during lunch is Issimo’s a la carte menu which uniquely features dishes designed for sharing, family-style, by two to four diners. Single portions are also available.

The menu includes a range of authentic Neapolitan chilled and grilled appetizers, deliciously crunchy bruschette, hearty home-style soups, garden-fresh salads dressed with premium extra virgin olive oil and fried specialties.

A selection of outstanding pizzas are baked in an authentic Neapolitan wood-fired oven, and topped with imported buffalo mozzarella cheese from Italy. Pasta dishes are freshly cooked “a la minute” and served in sparkling copper pans while gnocchi and risotti are served in traditional clay pots, adding to the rustic theme of the restaurant.

Dishes from the grill include jet-fresh seafoods and choice meats from around the world – Australian rib-eye steak, Pacific snapper, Atlantic salmon, New Zealand lamb chops, American pork chops, yellow fin tuna and king prawns. A highlight of the selection of side dishes selection is the fragrant roasted Rosemary potatoes.

Desserts are an inspiration, with Italian ice-creams and sorbets along with specialities including traditional Tuscan ice-cream cake with Limoncello liquor, Panna Cotta with Vin Santo and wild berry sauce, traditional Neapolitan almond-chocolate cake served with home-made fresh coconut ice-cream, Tiramisu with double espresso sauce and Rum Baba with whipped cream and stracciatella ice-cream.

There is also an exquisite list of wines carefully sourced from boutique wineries and a sensational cocktail menu created exclusively for Issimo by Shanghai-based mixologist and Grand Marnier Asia Brand Ambassador, Guillaume Jubien.

Issimo will also open for Breakfast daily starting June 1, 2008 with a menu featuring classic egg dishes, items from the Grill, mini pizza delights as well as a selection of Asian, Energy and Health options and traditional breakfast sets.

Covering 670 square meters, Issimo seats 60 in the main dining area, 36 in the lounge and bar, and up to 42 in the private rooms. For private events, Issimo can cater up to 90 for dinner and 200 for cocktails. Issimo is also ideal for intimate fashion shows as the wooden walkway that leads through the different areas creates a natural catwalk.
