W Hotels Worldwide, the fastest growing luxury hotel brand in the world, has appointed Damon Page as General Manager of W Hong Kong.

Bringing its signature Whatever/Whenever service philosophy, whimsical sensory elements and unique amenities, W Hong Kong is the most hotly anticipated hotel opening to hit Hong Kong in years. The 393-room West-Kowloon based property is set to introduce the concept of non-traditional luxury that originated at W New York, has spread across North America and is now firmly planted around the globe.

The role marks a milestone for the 3rd generation hotelier, whose passion for hotels has resulted in an impressive career spanning twenty-five years. From all over his native Australia to destinations such as New Zealand, Guilin, Moscow, Warsaw, Malaysia and Maldives, Damon is bringing his knowledge and expertise to W Hong Kong.

Having worked with the W brand for the past three years, Damon’s previous role saw him responsible for the flawless opening of W Maldives, the brand’s first Retreat & Spa, where he oversaw the hiring, training and motivating of 220 staff from 24 countries around the world. W Maldives promptly received the prestigious Travel + Leisure Design Award for Best Resort.

While the location and setting may be different, Damon’s expertise and passion for hotels will no doubt play a huge role in launching the 393 luxurious guest rooms with unobstructed views of the famed Hong Kong skyline, the award-winning Bliss® spa, a state of the art gym, 10,000 square feet of convertible event space, two world-class signature restaurants and a destination bar.

Commenting on his new challenge, Damon said: “There are few industries as dynamic as the hotel industry, and what city in the world is as vibrant and energetic as Hong Kong? We have the privilege of delivering our Whatever/Whenever service philosophy in a very stylish environment within the city’s newest centre of commerce, entertainment and culture. It’s a thrilling project to be a part of.”

W Hong Kong is ideally located in the heart of the city’s burgeoning West Kowloon commercial, entertainment, and cultural district. The new hotel will be the closest structure to the city’s newest commercial landmark, the International Commerce Centre, and the only hotel connected to the city’s luxurious Elements shopping mall. One of the most conveniently located properties in the city, W Hong Kong is just 8 minutes to/from Central by car or subway, and it is the nearest luxury hotel to the airport and AsiaWorld-Expo/Arena (just two stops via the Airport Express train). W Hong Kong will mark the W brand’s third hotel in Asia, bringing with it W’s 10-year tradition of innovative design, signature amenities and warm, whimsical style. W will continue to expand in Asia with plans to open hotels and retreats in Bangkok, Guangzhou, Macao-Studio City, Shanghai, Yokohama, Bali, and Koh Samui.

Commenting, Damon remarked, “With our brand of non-traditional luxury, we take pride in creating emotional connections with our guests by offering them sensory experiences while providing them insider access and an escape from the mundane into everything that is now and “wow”. We see our Whatever/Whenever (as long as it is legal!) philosophy taking the idea of personalized service to new levels, and are certain that this will represent a change to the industry landscape in Hong Kong.”
