Shangri-La's Olympic Hotels Ready To Welcome The World (China)

Management and staff at Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Asia Pacific's leading luxury hotel group, have been keenly anticipating and preparing for the 2008 Olympic Games and nowhere is the excitement more pronounced than at the “Olympic Five” – Beijing’s five-star China World Hotel, Shangri-La’s Kerry Centre Hotel, and Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing; the luxury Shangri-La Hotel, Qingdao; and the mid-market Traders Hotel, Beijing.

Special amenities and services during the Olympic period include:

More than 4,500 full-time employees will see to the needs of guests, including round-the-clock IT butlers.
Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing will provide Evian atomizers to soothe the sore throats of guests who have spent the day cheering their nation’s athletes.
Wide-screen plasma televisions will be installed throughout the hotels’ public areas.
Shangri-La’s Kerry Centre Hotel’s popular Centro Bar will stay open round-the-clock to cater to Olympic revelers.
More than 60 limousines will be available for private 24-hour transport with an estimated 16,300 chilled towels offered to refresh passengers.
Over 4,500 pots of Shangri-La’s signature “welcome” Chinese tea are anticipated to be served.
More than 300,000 fresh flowers will decorate the hotels’ public and private areas throughout the Olympic period.
Over 200,000 eggs and 2,500 gallons of milk have been ordered to ensure hearty breakfasts for Olympics-goers.
ore than 30,000 diners are expected in the hotels’ Chinese restaurants during the Olympics. Special regional menus will include Cantonese, Huaiyang and Sichuan cuisines as well as “imperial” menus.
Hotel laundries will be running 24 hours a day.
150,000 bottles of mineral water are now in stock.
More than 1,650 packed lunch-boxes per day for Olympic spectators are expected to be ordered.

Room service orders are expected to increase by 20 per cent for guests glued to their TVs.

Shangri-La’s Kerry Centre hotel has created special “One World, One Dream” cakes (in the shape of the “Birds’ Nest” and “Water Cube”) and multi-colour cocktails representing the Olympic rings have been dreamed up by the creative bartenders at Centro bar.
