It took almost four years to create in tranquil Zighy Bay on the Sultanate of Oman’s Musandam Peninsula – secluded from the world by the rugged Hajar Mountains - but now the Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay is ready for the official ribbon-cutting ceremony that will proclaim completion of the boutique resort referred to as “The ultimate in chic escapism”, by prestigious Vogue magazine in the UK. The setting of the indigenous village-style accommodations and private marina is dramatic, with rocky ranges on one side and a 1.6-kilometer sandy beach on the other.
Comprising just eighty-two private pool villas, pool villa duplexes and suites, accommodations also include two Retreats – each offering three bedrooms, and a four-bedroom Reserve with its own majlis for up to sixty guests. The Retreats and The Reserve feature private wine cellars, private spa facilities and gyms. All villas have private butler service, whilst the Reserve also has personal staff accommodations.
Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay presents guest experiences at every turn – from the diverse dining alternatives to inspiring excursions and activities. Dining on the Edge presents a panoramic view over Zighy Bay from the top of the mountain edge – also the jump-off point for the hugely popular paragliding activity. There is a Deli and East meets West fusion restaurant, in addition to personal in-villa dining beside private swimming pools or lantern-lit balconies. The new year brings a marina that will introduce a nautical theme, with the launch of Dinning on the Water.
As with every Six Senses Hideaway and Latitude, the Six Senses Spa is a focal point, and at Zighy Bay, the spa is a key element. Offering the world famous Six Senses signature treatments, the Six Senses Spa at Zighy Bay also features some Middle East features such as Hamams; one for ladies and one for gentlemen, bringing true Turkish delight to the art of sparing.
To get to the Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay, it is recommended that entry to the region is through Dubai, where it is just a one hour trip across the desert in one of the resort’s Series 7 BMWs. Guests then transfer to a 4-wheel Jeep to traverse the natural roadway, bringing a real sense of adventure to the arrival experience. As the sweep of Zighy Bay materializes from the hill-top vantage point, the resort is to the left side and the traditional fishing village to the right. The Six Senses Core Purpose of creating innovative and enriching experience in a sustainable environment, in which community plays a significant role, is exemplified here… not only with the design of the resort, which uses traditional stone building materials, but with refurbishment of the community buildings. The village breathes life once more and the occupants are again employed in their fishing occupation as a supplier of fresh seafood to the resort.
The Minister of Economics and Minister of Tourism for the Sultanate, as well as many Omani dignitaries and more than one thousand invited guests have been invited by the local municipalities to celebrate the grand opening of Six Senses Hideaway Zighy Bay to the Musandam Peninsula.
