Course had been temporarily closed for two seasons due to construction of new casino resort

Mount Airy Casino Resort announced today that the Mount Airy Golf Club will officially open tomorrow, Thursday, April 30, for the 2009 season. The course had been temporarily closed for two seasons due to construction of the new casino resort.

The course features spectacular vistas on more than 6,000 yards of challenging yet beautiful terrain featuring rolling, tree-lined fairways and multiple ponds, lakes, and streams. The 18–hole golf course features ten holes that are touched by water and over 90 sand traps.

“We are placing a heavy emphasis on customer service, including personal and junior clinics, competitive rates, and tournaments and corporate outings” said Mount Airy Golf Pro Randy Vaskas, who took over operation of the newly opened course this year. “Players can come and play a round of golf and then enjoy the other amenities the resort has to offer, including our restaurants, bars, and the casino.”

Vaskas said the golf course is appropriate for all skill levels, but noted that it will pose challenges for both novices and veterans, with an emphasis on club selection. “This is not a course where you can just use your driver and wedge,” said Vaskas. “Smart players will make use of every club in their bag.”

“We are in the planning stages of making this one of the premier golf courses in the Pocono Mountains,” said Vaskas, who previously worked as a golf pro at the prestigious Philadelphia Country Club. “In the future, we will be working to bring in Pro-Ams and some PGA events to showcase both the course and the overall resort.”

Mount Airy Casino Resort is the only casino in Pennsylvania to offer guests a complete resort experience with luxurious guest rooms, fine dining restaurants, a nightclub, bars, spa and salon, and now a full 18-hole golf course. These amenities set Mount Airy apart from every other casino in the state, making it the premier casino resort in Pennsylvania.

The course rates are $47 for weekdays and $55 for weekends. The course also has a special twilight rate of $37 after 4 p.m. All rates include a golf cart.

Individuals interested in reserving tee times or booking outings can contact Mount Airy Casino Resort’s Course Clubhouse at (877) 532-0345.
