Sick of tired, clichéd reindeers, snowmen and fake Santas, and unimaginative activities lacking any vestige of Christmas cheer? Ditch the Grinch and stay at AYANA Resort and Spa Bali to celebrate in true style, with activities to cheer up small and big kids alike, and put the jolly back into the Christmas and New Year period.

For in-house guests over the festive season, there will be special Christmas and New Year dinner menus, as well as Christmas carols and a Kids Club festive program. Best of all, Santa will know exactly where to find you; all guests staying at AYANA will have a special delivery to their room or villa on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. If that’s not enough, AYANA will welcome 2011 with a week-long performance schedule at the Rock Bar with San Francisco acoustics group Alma Desnuda, and a Countdown party for all in-house guests that will culminate with fireworks.

Rates for this period are available at www.ayanaresort.com or by email to reservation@ayanaresort.com Highlights of the festive program include:

11 December – Tree Lighting Ceremony with Santa, Christmas Carols by a local orphanage, and complimentary Festive canapes and drinks. The AYANA Christmas Tree, standing over 4 meters high, has been designed by Sebastien Lathuile, a noted flower artist brought in from China to custom-make six separate, original Christmas trees for the resort. The main tree features wood, copper, seashells, embossed aluminium and Balinese fabric patterns, while the other smaller trees are made of materials such as seashells, drift wood and cinnamon sticks. No charge; guests requested to donate a Christmas gift for the Sanatana Dharma orphanage in North Bali.

6 December – 6 January, Festive Afternoon Tea daily at Damar Terrace with a delectable selection of finger sandwiches; scones with homemade jams and clotted cream; praline slice; fruit tart; lemon curd tart/ pastry cream éclair; chocolate truffles; hazelnut mini-bites; walnut brownies; butter cookies and fresh-brewed coffee and tea. Rp160,000++/person.

18 December – Teddy Bear Tea at Damar Terrace with Santa, who will give each child a teddy bear and Christmas cookies bag. Christmas story telling will also be held. Rp160,000++/person.

14 and 21 December – Christmas Cooking Class with Executive Chef Giordano Faggioli, who will present a traditional Italian festive menu featuring traditional parmesan and egg dumpling; pumpkin ravioli with butter, chestnut and sage sauce; honey-glazed cod fish with glazed root vegetables and cauliflower cream; and buttered Panettone with vin santo sauce and vanilla ice cream. Rp800,000++/person; 50% deposit required.

to perform at AYANA. From their grassroots followings in Southern California where they are still actively promoting social justice issues, the band has moved up to perform at larger venues including the Great American Music Hall. See www.almadmusic.com for more information.

New Year’s Eve 31 December – Set dinner menus at Sami Sami, Kisik, Dava and Padi restaurants as well as Pesta Lobster and Romantic Villa Dinner. All guests who dine at AYANA will receive 1 complimentary glass of sparkling wine when they arrive at the Countdown Party (from 9.30pm-1am), which will feature pyrotechnics, fireworks and Alma Desnuda live session. The celebrations will also be held at Rock Bar until 3am with DJ Cachya
