Mandarin Oriental, Sanya is delighted to announce the launch of a new spa treatment package to coincide with the unveiling of the resort’s Secret Garden in the award winning Spa.

Hainan’s Hidden Secret is a half day Spa journey which features a foot ritual, body scrub with pearl powder and rice milk, outdoor water therapy and a Hot Lava Sea Shell massage. The first of its kind on Hainan Island, this unique massage treatment is a complete wellness experience that uses warm shells to ease tired muscles, nurture the body and uplift the spirits. The Tiger Striped Clam shells used for the massage are hand-selected for size, shape and structural integrity. Prior to the treatment they are filled with Lava Gel, a blend of minerals that when mixed with an activator creates a natural heat, and the calcium ions produced naturally from the shells when heated, are transferred directly to the skin. Together with massage oil produced from local coconuts, the calcium from the shells helps to regulate the skin's natural renewal processes resulting in a firmer, healthier looking skin,.

“This new treatment offers Spa enthusiasts the epitome of wellness and relaxation” said Stephan Wagner, Spa & Recreation Director at Mandarin Oriental, Sanya, and creator of the Hainan’s Hidden Secret Spa journey. “The Hot Lava Sea Shell treatment is one that reflects both the resort’s Coral Bay location and the local culture”.

Hidden away amongst the landscaped gardens of the Spa Village, the Secret Garden is a quiet tropical sanctuary, and the ideal location in which to indulge in this new treatment. Along with luxury spa treatments and comfortable day beds, the garden also features a secluded relaxation area. The verdant tropical plants imbue the space with a distinctly natural milieu and the soft patter of the waterfall that gently flows into the private plunge pool serves to relax the mind and stir the senses.

Suitable for spa parties and romantic sojourns, the Secret Garden adds a unique al fresco venue to the resort’s existing luxury treatment suites, allowing guests to experience complete wellness in beautiful natural surroundings.
