IHG appoints Paul Snyder, Vice President, Corporate Responsibility, The Americas Region (United States)

Former Holiday Inn employee, with 17-years of hospitality experience, leads IHG’s corporate responsibility efforts in the Americas

IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) [LON: IHG, NYSE: IHG (ADRs)], the world’s largest hotel group by number of rooms, has named Paul Snyder to be vice president, corporate responsibility in the Americas region. He officially began his new role on June 27, 2011.

Based in Atlanta, Snyder will work with the region’s president Kirk Kinsell and his senior executive team and will report to David Jerome, senior vice president, corporate responsibility, IHG in Denham, U.K.

Snyder leads the implementation of sustainability and community efforts throughout IHG hotels. He manages the regions’ public affairs activities, working closely with the corporate affairs, human resources and legal departments with efforts in Washington and with other groups to advocate IHG’s interests. Paul also directs IHG’s diversity work, promoting inclusion and cultural diversity at the company.

“Paul brings years of hotel experience to this position as well as a great wealth of knowledge about IHG, having served in multiple roles and departments in the company," said Jerome. "I am confident he will contribute greatly toward fulfilling our corporate responsibility initiatives and, in turn, support IHG in becoming the best hotel company in the world."

Snyder, a 17-year hospitality industry veteran, most recently served as vice president, portfolio operations, the Americas. Prior to that, his roles have included leadership positions in development, operations and brand management. Before joining IHG, Paul worked in the brand management, IT, and development organizations of Marriott International. He also worked at Winegardner & Hammons, Inc., where he began as a line level employee and was promoted into managerial positions in both food and beverage and rooms departments. Paul began his career in 1994 working on-property at a Holiday Inn franchise.

Snyder earned a bachelor’s degree in English literature at Lawrence University and masters of business administration degree at Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management.
