Mandarin Orchard Singapore emerged the overall champion in the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Productivity Story 2011 competition.

The PATA Singapore Chapter and Workforce Development Agency (WDA) jointly organised the second instalment of the “Our Productivity Story” competition as part of national efforts to promote the adoption of productivity initiatives amongst companies. This year’s competition has expanded to include entries from three categories including hotels, travel agents and other tourism sectors. The competition saw a total of 58 entries, from which a panel of distinguished judges shortlisted 6 finalists including Mandarin Orchard Singapore amongst others.

Up against giants in the tourism industry and after rigorous rounds of judging including putting together the productivity story into a motivating video for public voting, Mandarin Orchard Singapore won the top spot in the hotel category.

“We are immensely pleased with the recognition as it clearly marks the success of our productivity campaign pioneered at iconic Mandarin Orchard Singapore. Moving forward, our best practices for optimum productivity will be implemented across other properties under Meritus Hotels & Resorts,” says Mr Michael Sengol, Chief Executive Officer of Meritus Hotels & Resorts. He adds, “The winning formula is simple: At Meritus, we believe that a happy staff is a productive staff.”
