Prior to joining Six Senses in 2010, Monica earned a Master’s Degree in Switzerland in the spring of 2009 several years after graduating from Johnson State College in her home state of Vermont, USA. Interested in a terminal degree, she officially turned towards hospitality and marketing.

A self-proclaimed extrovert with a strong creative bent, Monica had a natural affinity for performing arts from a young age. She spent her summers at Bread and Puppet Theatre between the ages of five and 16 where she expanded her knowledge about and love for the theatre. While at Johnson, Monica’s professors encouraged her creativity through theatrical performances and creative writing.

Concurrently with her studies, she worked with Green Up Vermont. She also had her first introduction to the spa industry, which turned out to be her chosen field during the next five years she spent in in Los Angeles.

Monica says that former employers advised that an arts degree would be of little use in the hospitality business. At Six Senses, the opposite was the fact, as her recruiter suggested that an arts background could nurture creativity and be a fundamental factor in creating an ideal hospitality host.

Now an avid diver and eco-warrior, Monica was accompanied on her move to Vietnam with her two adopted cats.
