118-Room Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe Hotel to Open in 2009

Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) will open its third Renaissance-branded hotel in Paris in 2009 under a management agreement with Empire SAS, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Altarea SA, a publicly traded French company. When opened, it will be Marriott’s eighth hotel in the Paris metropolitan area.

The 118-room Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe will be located on Avenue Wagram approximately 300 meters north of the Arc de Triomphe. On the hotel’s site is a historic banquet and ballroom, Salle Wagram. In addition, the site will contain 1,500 square meters of retail space.

With its stylish and distinctive designs and impeccable service, Renaissance is an upscale, urbane, sophisticated enjoyment-focused hotel that is especially appealing to emerging Generation X/Y travelers.

“We are excited by the addition of this new Renaissance hotel to our portfolio in Paris,” said J. W. Marriott, Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of Marriott International. “Its design and approach to style and sophistication will nicely complement our existing Renaissance brand portfolio in Paris.”

Alain Taravella, president of the Altarea Group, said, “Christian de Portzamparc’s unique architecture, materializing values of modernity as well as comfort and quality offer the most beautiful shrine to the new Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe. It will make this building one of the most notable assets of Altarea.”

For dining and entertainment, the Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe will have an all-day casual restaurant and lounge with an outdoor terrace and bar. Recreational amenities will include a 70-square meter fitness center. Among other amenities will be a business center.

For social events and conferences, the Renaissance Paris Arc de Triomphe will offer 150-square meters of space which can be divided into two sections or five breakout rooms in varying configurations.
