Kurt Straub, General Manager of Park Hyatt Zurich, named “Hotelier of the Year 2009” by economic magazine Bilanz
Kurt Straub, General Manager of Park Hyatt Zurich, was named “Hotelier of the Year 2009” by the Swiss economic magazine Bilanz on September 25, 2009.
Since 2001 this important Swiss hotel industry award has been bestowed upon personalities who render outstanding services to the hotel industry. The main criteria include the ability of motivating employees for a continuous excellent service and to exceed guest’s expectations, the courage to take risks, an innovative spirit and enduring economic success. All this - and more - can be found in the native-born Swiss, Kurt Straub. In May 2004, he was named General Manager of the new Park Hyatt Zurich, the first Hyatt hotel in Zurich and in Switzerland, which opened in September 2004.
Mr. Straub is a graduate of the Belvoirpark Hotel School in Zurich, and consolidated his studies with work experience in Saudi Arabia and Switzerland before joining Hyatt International in January 1993 as Assistant Director of Food and Beverage at Hyatt Regency Acapulco, Mexico. Following a further assignment at Grand Hyatt Singapore, Mr. Straub was appointed Director of Food and Beverage at Hyatt Regency Baku, Azerbaijan, followed by the position of Executive Assistant Manager – Food and Beverage at Hyatt Regency Almaty in Kazakhstan. In February 1999, Mr. Straub was promoted to General Manager of Hyatt Regency Bishkek in the Kyrgyz Republic.
The five-star Park Hyatt Zurich, with 142 luxury guestrooms and suites, is located in the city’s prestigious financial and commercial district, adjacent to the Zurich Congress Centre and just steps from the fashionable shopping mile “Bahnhofstrasse”.
