More couples now can take advantage of this exclusive Outrigger amenity

The free vow renewal ceremony at the Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation on the island of Kauai has proven so popular that this special amenity, originally set to end on June 30, has been extended through the end of the year! Available exclusively to Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation guests, the non-denominational ceremony now is available through December 21, 2010.

“The popularity of our free vow renewal ceremony didn’t come as a surprise to me,” said Dale Verkaaik, general manager at the Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation Resort. “Kauai is one of the most romantic places on earth, and the gardens at the Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation are the perfect setting for romance. Over the past few months, we’ve been thrilled to be a part of so many special moments, and we look forward to creating many more memories as husbands and wives renew their love and commitment to each other right here in our own slice of paradise.”

Held every other Thursday afternoon at 4:00 p.m., the non-denominational ceremony takes place amidst a beautiful garden setting of green lawns, a reflective pond, exotic orchids and swaying palms. The special moment begins with couples exchanging complimentary fresh flower lei. The conch shell sounds and the kahu (Hawaiian minister) performs a Hawaiian chant with an English translation.

Couples learn the meaning and significance of Ha, or the breath of life, as they exchange vows with a special kiss. Throughout the ceremony, couples are serenaded with soft Hawaiian slack key guitar music, and when the ceremony is done, couples are presented with a keepsake certificate to commemorate the special day.

To maintain its uniqueness and intimacy, each vow renewal ceremony is open to six couples only and couples must be legally married to participate. Reservations are required and can be made no more than two weeks in advance of the preferred ceremony date by calling Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation’s front desk at 808-742-6411 (long-distance charges apply) or via email at kpr@outrigger.com. The Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation occupies a lovely beachfront setting in Poipu on the sunniest side of Kauai. This oasis by the sea perfectly captures the distinct character of the island. The atmosphere is relaxed and carefree, gracious and unpretentious. Tall swaying coconut palms, large shady monkey pod trees, and fragrant blossoming plumeria are scattered throughout this 35-acre resort. There’s an extensive cactus and succulent garden, a stunning array of orchid plants, a garden of indigenous Hawaiian plants, plus relaxing water features to enjoy. Perfectly manicured lawns carpet the spacious grounds; and a pristine stretch of sand separates all this from the clear blue Pacific.

The resort’s low-rise wooden apartments are reminiscent of Hawaii's 19th-century plantation past. Each of the one- and two-bedroom breeze-cooled condominium units is comfortably furnished with a spacious living and dining area, complete kitchen, ceiling fans, cable TV, daily housekeeping service and a private lanai. Complimentary high-speed Internet access is available in all units

The property features a popular swimming beach, complete beach services and the Plantation Gardens Restaurant, which is open for dinner. The Kiahuna Swim and Tennis Club is just across the street and boasts an activity pool with waterslide and sand bottom children’s area. There are also 10 tennis courts and a Tennis Shop, where guests can arrange for tennis lessons, racquet rentals, arrange for partners and sign up for organized activities, plus the casual Casablanca at Kiahuna Restaurant. Shopping and other dining options are conveniently located across the street from the resort at the Poipu Shopping Village. The challenging Kiahuna and Poipu Bay golf courses are just moments away by car. Signing privileges for Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation guests are available at the resort’s two restaurants, the beach services stand, Kiahuna Swim and Tennis Club, and the nearby Kiahuna Golf Course, allowing guests the convenience of settling all charges at check-out.

Rates at Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation start at just $169 for a one-bedroom garden view condominium with full kitchen. Taxes are not included. Partial ocean view, ocean view, oceanfront and two-bedroom condos also available. Rates and special offers cannot be combined and are subject to change without notice. Restrictions may apply.
