After a building phase of just ten months and in time for the Football World Cup, brand new luxury suites are now ready to welcome guests at the legendary Hotel Adlon Kempinski in Berlin.
The highlight is the elegant new Presidential Suite in the newly created Security Wing – not only the most luxurious, but also the safest hotel suite in Germany.
In order to meet the growing demand for attractive and larger suites, the Hotel Adlon Kempinski started the conversion of 39 hotel rooms into 15 exclusive suites in July 2005. The spacious suites are equipped with the latest technology (high speed Internet access, flat screens and modern hotel entertainment systems). Some of the suites (60 - 140 m2) even have a private fitness room with gym equipment, a sauna and whirlpool.
The highlight is certainly the Presidential Suite in the newly created Security Wing, with a view over Potsdamer Platz. ‘The need for security and the expectations regarding equipment levels have grown tangibly, and we are meeting that challenge,’ says Thomas Klippstein, General Manager. The 240 m2 Presidential Suite is not only secure but also impressive, with elegant European and Asia style furnishings combined with fine antiques. The suite is adjoined by two other suites, an additional room and a special drivers’ lounge for chauffeurs and bodyguards.
State visitors and celebrity guests, together with a large entourage and private staff, are ensured undisturbed accommodation in this Security Wing, which covers in total an area of some 420 m2, with two private lifts for direct underground car park access. The hotel has invested EUR 4 million in this Presidential Suite.
All systems to ensure safety have been installed in compliance with the latest security standards (Security Level 1) and the precise instructions of the German Federal and State Criminal Police Offices (BKA and LKA). This includes a telecommunications system independent of the building with DECT devices, a dedicated security hub with video monitoring, bullet-proof walls and windows, and an independent power supply.
Guest entry is via the main entrance’s black, armoured doors or via either of the two side entrances. The expansive rooms include a 40 m2 living room, an office and conference room, a bedroom with four-poster bed, separate dressing room and chaise-longue, as well a 30 m2 bathroom with Jacuzzi, Finnish sauna and massage/fitness area. In most of the rooms – including the bathroom and fitness room – guests can enjoy flat screen monitors and top quality entertainment systems, stylishly integrated into walls or furnishings. Facilities naturally also include a private safe room, a fireplace and a kitchen for the butler. The 24-hour butler service is as much a part of the Security Suite as the limousine service with up to five cars, an open bar and gourmet breakfast.
The interior design is the creation of Anne Maria Jagdfeld of amj Design – also responsible for furnishing the rooms in the extension. Her style is characterised by classic elegance infused with modern and Asian influences. The hotel has invested more than EUR 12 million in the extensive renovation of its suites.
From 1 May 2006 , the Hotel Adlon Kempinski offers 3 Presidential Suites, 75 Luxury Suites and 307 spacious hotel rooms.
