Royal Caribbean International’s cruise ship Legend of the Seas called at the port of Boracay in the Philippines for the first time last Saturday October 27, with an official ceremony welcoming her arrival. The 70,000 gross registered ton ship with over 1,600 international guests onboard, is on her final Asian season and the stopover at Boracay is part of her 8-Night Exotic Southeast Asia Cruise which started from Hong Kong with calls also at Xiamen, Manila and Kota Kinabalu.

The traditional plaque and key ceremony was held on the ship between Mr Carlito S Marquez, Governor of Aklan, Mdm. Helen Catalbas, Director of Department of Tourism Region 6 and Captain Yngvar Knutsen of Legend of the Seas. Ms Marilen Sandejas-Yaptangco, Royal Caribbean’s International Representative in the Philippines said, “Boracay is a vibrant island which is rising in popularity amongst tourists in recent years. We are proud to add yet another destination in the Philippines to Legend of the Seas’ Asian itineraries, which will give our international guests more ways to discover this country.”

Boracay is a tropical island located at the south of Manila and is known as an island of paradise. With miles of white powdery beaches, jagged cliffs and crystal clear waters, the island has been a top sightseeing spot for locals and international tourists alike. Visitors can pick and choose from the numerous water sports available such as scuba diving, snorkeling, windsurfing, parasailing and many more. Alternatively guests can island hopto the surrounding islands such as Crocodile Island and Crystal Cove or take a boat tour on a Paraw to see the beautiful coast of the island on Royal Caribbean’s shore excursions.

Following Boracay, Legend of the Seas also called at Kota Kinabalu for the first time today.

After this sailing, Legend of the Seas will be returning to Singapore for her final season, to complete her long-running Asian deployment in next April.

Onboard Legend of the Seas, vacationers can look forward to an ocean of entertainment and relaxation choices, such as the brand’s signature 9m rock-climbing wall offering an incredible view of the sea, and a miniature golf course which promises endless fun for the whole family. In addition, one can savour the wide variety of mouth-watering international cuisine with Asian selections whilst enjoying the sea view from the two-tier glass-walled Romeo and Juliet Dining Room, watch dazzling musicals and dance performances, or relax in the Solarium indoor pool that comes with glass roof. As for the younger guests, they will be entertained by the complimentary Adventure Ocean activities for multiple age groups. Most of all, the cruise comes in a winning package of value, with virtually everything included in the price.
