From Mexico to the Dominican Republic, from Cuba to the Bahamas or Jamaica, Meliá operates some of the best resorts in one of the most privileged regions in the world for leisure travel, and a region with which it has formed solid business relationships and emotional bonds for decades.

This is particularly true in Cuba, where the company has recently announced the opening of 7 new hotels in World Heritage cities such as Cienfuegos, Camaguey and Santiago de Cuba, which together with two large resorts (Paradisus Los Cayos in Cayo Santa María and Meliá Internacional in Varadero) will make a total of 2,145 new rooms opened in 2018. Meliá is already a leading hotel company in a country known as the "Pearl of the Caribbean", and remains committed to innovation and diversification into multi-destination vacations, an emerging and increasingly important segment for the already very successful Cuban tourist industry.

In general, Meliá stands out from competitors in the region thanks to its brands, and particularly Paradisus by Meliá, its iconic brand of ultra-all-inclusive luxury resorts whose unique product and service standards are acknowledged and appreciated worldwide. The brand is already home to a number of benchmark hotels for Caribbean luxury vacations such as the Paradisus Playa del Carmen, Paradisus Los Cabos and Paradisus Cancún in Mexico, or the Paradisus Palma Real and Paradisus Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.

Meliá is more committed than ever to the Caribbean's most popular destinations, to which our company turned after consolidating its leadership in the Mediterranean. Along with the new luxurious "The Circle" resort the company plans to inaugurate this year in the Dominican Republic, the company’s Executive Vice President and CEO, Gabriel Escarrer, and Chief Operating Officer, André Gerondeau, last week agreed the addition of the new Paradisus Playa Mujeres, which is scheduled to open later this year in an area known as the mainland “Isla Mujeres”, a haven of beauty and tranquillity about three kilometres from Cancun.

Paradisus Playa Mujeres will incorporate the new vision and philosophy of the brand, defined as "nature included", the result of a major review and creative rebirth built around ideas including sustainability and harmony with nature. As the executives explained, the spectacular location of the hotel, nestled between the sea, the beach and a modern and luxurious marina, perfectly complements the unique experience that guests at Paradisus Playa Mujeres will enjoy.
