Glen Cove Mansion Hotel and Conference Center Names Alfred Leuthold Director of Sales & Marketing (United States)

The award-winning Glen Cove Mansion Hotel and Conference Center, one of the nation’s first dedicated conference properties, has announced the appointment of Alfred (Fred) Leuthold as director of sales & marketing. Ata Kashanian, general manager, made the announcement.

“I am so pleased to welcome Fred to Glen Cove Mansion,” said Mr. Kashanian. “European trained and with extensive experience in the meetings and hospitality industries within the United States and in the New York region, he brings a fresh perspective to our historic property, which has a 40-year legacy in the delivery of productive meetings.”

Fred Leuthold was previously director of sales and marketing for the Hilton Stamford Hotel & Executive Meeting Center, located in Stamford, Connecticut. In this role, he actively participated in the rebranding of the property as a certified meeting facility by the International Association of Conference Centers (IACC). The leading professional organization governing the multi-billion dollar conference center industry on five continents, IACC is the recognized authority on the critical elements of the Total Meeting Experience, and counts Glen Cove Mansion Hotel and Conference Center as one of its charter members.

Mr. Leuthold also served as regional director of sales and marketing for Highgate Hotels, LLC, with a particular focus on the Paramount Hotel, Radisson Lexington Hotel and the Doubletree Metropolitan, all based in Manhattan. In this role he experienced significant success increasing corporate transient and group business for each property. He held the same position for Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts of New York City where his market focus was North America. Here his responsibilities included leading the sales and marketing programming for the New York Hilton, the Millennium Hilton, The Waldorf=Astoria Hotel and The Waldorf Towers.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Leuthold worked in sales and marketing operations for Lufthansa German Airlines, New York office. During his tenure there he partnered with the renowned business guru, Tom Peters, developing “A Passion for Service” seminars and visual productions for use with sales teams and in developing business opportunities with key accounts. Prior to this appointment, he was employed as director of sales and marketing for The Drake Swissôtel in New York.

Fred Leuthold is a graduate of Kantonsschule College Aarau, located in Switzerland, his country of origin. Mr. Leuthold has engaged in extensive management training and coursework throughout his career, including achieving General Manager Certification through Radisson Hotels & Resorts. He is also a graduate of the Swiss Air Force Officers School where he achieved the rank of First Lieutenant.
