Brocade Technology Supports the M Resort as the Most Converged Network in Vegas

Key Facts
* The M Resort is situated on more than 90 acres on the southern end of the Las Vegas Strip
* More than 92,000 square feet of gaming
o 1,900+ IP enabled slot machines
o 70+ table games
* Nine dining outlets including a tower restaurant and lounge
* 23,000 square foot spa, salon and exercise area
* More than 60,000 square feet of meeting and conference space

Requirements

To best align with the M Resorts goals of offering a better food product, a better gaming environment and a better value for its customers’ entertainment dollar, it required a network that would support the broad deployment of:

* 1,200 VoIP phones – including 400 wireless VoIP phone devices
* 400+ PCs
* 1,900+ slot machines
* 5,000+ ports to the gaming floor
* 600+ IP surveillance cameras
* Every mini bar, every guest connection
* Digital signage throughout the property, including elevators
* Prescription dispensing robot in the pharmacy that is network enabled

Brocade Solution

The M resort deployed the Brocade FastIron GS Series and NetIron MLX Series to support development and delivery of advanced IP triple-play (data voice and video) and gaming applications throughout the resort.

The Brocade® NetIron® MLX Series of routers is designed to meet all these requirements and more. Built with state-of-the-art, fifth-generation, network-processor-based architecture and Terabit-scale switch fabrics, the NetIron MLX Series routers offer network planners a rich set of high-performance IPv4, IPv6, MPLS, and Multi-VRF capabilities as well as advanced Layer 2 switching capabilities.

The Brocade® FastIron® GS series switch provides enterprise organizations with a flexible and feature-rich solution for building a secure and converged network edge. Upgradeable with 10-Gigabit Ethernet, PoE, and IronStack stacking technology, the FastIron GS Series gives enterprises the cost and operational benefits of a “pay-as-you-grow” architecture.

Business Benefit

Consolidation of data, voice and video on an all-IP Brocade network greatly lowers costs and eases management. Advanced intelligence in Brocade IP devices makes it possible to deliver advanced services to guest rooms and the gaming floor. Delivery of similar services would previously have required deployment and management of a variety of service-specific (Internet, telephone, television) networks. High port density and low-per-port pricing in Brocade IP network equipment ensures that the resort is able to maximize its “revenue footprint,” by delivering more and better services with equipment that uses less space and power than competing solutions.

Quotes

“What Brocade brings to the table is adaptability, we can be more agile and reactive to create a competitive advantage and through that we’re able to offer the guests a better, richer and more reliable experience,” said Robert Willis, VP, Information Technology at the M Resort. “Security is of course paramount in our industry, and without reliability you can’t go home at night and sleep peacefully. With Brocade I never wonder when that next phone call is going to happen.”

“More than ever, enterprise customers such as M Resort are looking to enhance the utility of its campus network while driving out costs and increase operational simplicity,” said Ken Cheng, vice president and general manager, IP products division, Brocade. “The M Resort deployment is a model that exemplifies the strength of Brocade’s Enterprise network portfolio, from the intelligent edge featuring a seamless wired/wireless management, all the way into a high-performance, cost-effective core that takes advantage of Brocade’s leadership in the areas of density, power and space efficiency. Brocade values extraordinary customers such as M Resort and its innovative application of enterprise-wide networking.”
