Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE:HOT) today announced the opening of the new Sheraton Zurich Hotel, marking the brand’s second hotel in the financial capital of Switzerland since the world-renowned brand was introduced into the country more than 40 years ago. Owned by ZUFA Immobilien AG and opening under an agreement between Starwood and Arabella Hospitality SE, Sheraton Zurich fuels the global growth of the Sheraton brand as it remains on track to celebrate the opening of its 500th hotel by 2016.

“I would like to thank our longtime partner, Schörghuber Corporate Group, for once again putting their trust in Starwood as we introduce the new Sheraton Zurich Hotel,” commented Michael Wale, President, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Europe, Africa and Middle East. “The opening of Sheraton Zurich allows us to meet the growing demand for internationally-branded hotel accommodations in the city while offering a new gathering place for the local community and global travellers.”

Sheraton Zurich Hotel

A new gathering place for business and leisure travellers, as well as the local community, Sheraton Zurich offers a vibrant, open atmosphere in the heart of Zurich West, which is set to become the busiest business and entertainment district in the city. The former industrial hub around Hardturm-Areal is rapidly evolving into an exciting and energetic area, with innovative entrepreneurs, designers and artists setting up business in former factories, and new public spaces, cultural venues and office buildings featuring outstanding architecture and design.

The hotel’s spacious lobby lounge features a fireplace amid an interior design where classic ideals are mixed with modern contexts. Guests can enjoy complimentary wireless internet access with the Link@Sheraton(SM) experienced with Microsoft® – a signature social, technology hub situated in the lobby where guests can stay connected to what matters most during their stay.

Sheraton Zurich comprises 197 elegant guest rooms, including 32 suites, all equipped with the signature all-white Sheraton Sweet Sleeper™ Bed. The rooms embrace the modern interpretation of classic design for which the Sheraton brand is known, providing the social traveller with a comfortable home away from home.

Situated on the 10th floor, the Sheraton Club Lounge serves breakfast, refreshments and light snacks all day, evening drinks and hors d’oeuvres, alongside views over the city from the 10th floor. Guests staying in the Sheraton Club rooms will enjoy complimentary wireless internet access in the room as well as in the Club Lounge.

Sheraton Zurich offers more than 600 square metres of modern meeting and event space equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including eight multifunctional meeting and event rooms and a pre-function area. The hotel’s fitness facilities feature the brand’s revolutionary health and fitness programme Sheraton Fitness by Core® Performance, designed exclusively for Sheraton guests.

On the ground floor, the Swiss grill restaurant, Route twenty-six, offers a unique dining concept that showcases the best from the 26 Swiss cantons, freshly prepared from the open show kitchen. This includes local specialties such as capuns, a traditional Swiss chard-wrapped dish from Graubünden; züri gschnätzlets, a typical Zurich dish consisting of thinly sliced veal cooked in a cream sauce with mushrooms and served with rösti, fried grated potato cake; and grilled pike perch from lake Neuchâtel. An ideal gathering place to work and meet friends, the hotel’s Italian café and bar, Nuovo, offers take-away and dine-in meals throughout the day, as well as after-work drinks.
