This annual brand program will take place from September 21 to October 31 2017 in all Sofitel hotels, offering travelers the opportunity to deepen their enological knowledge through a round-the-world tour of wines. With events hosted by master sommeliers, guests will embark on an odyssey full of surprises, providing an opportunity to discover new flavors and even some unknown and exotic varieties. This initiative allows the 120 hotels worldwide to come together in celebration of wine and French art de vivre.

WINES DAYS, A MAJOR EVENT THAT ILLUSTRATES THE BRAND’S WINE EXPERTISE

The traditional wine harvest period in France occurs in September and October. It was therefore only natural for Sofitel to choose this time of year to introduce guests to its annual “Wine Days” program, which takes place between September 21 and October 31. Wines Days represent a complete enological experience, providing an ideal framework for guests to benefit from Sofitel’s “savoir-faire”. Over the past 50 years, Sofitel has seen its expertise go from strength to strength, thanks to its master sommeliers, a high-calibre wine library and the exceptional wines served at this occasion. This global initiative brings together hotels from around the world, hosting events that will delight amateurs and aficionados alike as they discover the secrets of wine.

A ROUND-THE-WORLD TOUR OF WINES TO CELEBRATE THE 6TH EDITION OF WINE DAYS

In France, wine is an institution of international renown, owing its uniqueness to the wealth of terroirs and the diversity of blends.

Whether European or from a far corner of the world, the number of grape varieties is astonishing. With this in this mind, Sofitel will once again present an all-encompassing overview of wines. An array of international wines has been selected by Sofitel’s sommeliers, allowing guests to discover each of their specific features and taste profiles. Australia, Argentina, Portugal and New Zealand – all of these wine regions will be showcased in a voyage of the senses.

For the past five years, Jean-Luc Jamrozik, Master Sommelier at the Sofitel Paris Baltimore and President of the Paris Sommeliers Association, has been championing the Sofitel Wine Days initiative, which helps to showcase enology and winemaking throughout its network of hotels in France and internationally – “When I was a student at hotel management school, wine wasn’t spoken of like it is today. Wine was just Bordeaux, Bourgogne and Champagne. Today, we work with all the French regions and we’ve opened up to foreign wines. You could say that the sommelier is a wine ambassador. An ambassador for French wine when abroad and an ambassador for international wines when in France.”

A number of tastings, “Wines of the World” events, discussions and meetings with local wine experts will be held at Sofitel hotels. Depending on the location, guests will be invited to enjoy delicious wine-based cocktails, take part in traditional and blind tasting sessions and even bid at auctions. Wine will, of course, take center stage during dinners and brunches, with gourmet menus created especially for the Sofitel Wine Days events.
