Omni Hotels Named One of Best Companies to Work for in Texas; Luxury Hotel Company Named One of 30 Best Among Large Companies

Omni Hotels was recently named as one of the Best Companies to Work for in Texas in the third annual program created by the Texas Association of Business, the Texas State Council of the Society of Human Resource Management and the Best Companies Group.
"We are proud to be recognized for our commitment to our associates," said Joy Rothschild, senior vice president of human resources for Omni Hotels. "One of our six Core Values is to treat every associate as part of the Omni family. It is satisfying to know that our efforts are making an impact."
Omni Hotels is headquartered in Irving, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. The company has 13 hotels located in Texas, including those in development, with three located in Houston and San Antonio; two located in Dallas, Austin and Corpus Christi; and one located in Fort Worth.
The survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best employers in Texas that benefit the state's economy, its workforce and businesses. The list is made up of 75 companies split into three categories: 20 small-sized companies (25-74 employees), 25 medium-sized companies (75-249 employees) and 30 large-sized companies (250 and more employees).
To be considered for the award, companies had to meet the following requirements:
-- Be a for-profit, not-for-profit business or government entity
-- Be a publicly or privately held business
-- Have a facility in Texas
-- Have at least 25 employees in Texas
-- Be in business a minimum of one year
Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Companies to Work for in Texas. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking.
The actual rankings will be published in a special advertorial section in the February 2008 issue of Texas Monthly and the ranked companies will be recognized at a gala awards luncheon on January 25, 2008 at the Renaissance Hotel in Austin.
