Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced that Sheraton Fiji Resort will undergo a refurbishment in 2008 that will set new standards in family and conference resort choices in Fiji. The extensive US$22 million refurbishment is a major investment for one of the most renowned and best positioned resorts in Fiji.

Commencing in April 2008, the refurbishment will encompass all areas of the resort from the lobby, to the pool, recreational facilities and spacious guest rooms and suites, creating a new look for one of Fiji’s favourite resorts. To complete the project, the resort will close from 1st April 2008, reopening on Wednesday, 1st October 2008.

“It’s a very timely refurbishment that will position Sheraton Fiji Resort as a leader in the family, conference and incentive markets, unlike any other resort in Fiji, a destination that attracts travellers from around the world.”, said Shane Cunning, Managing Director of Sheraton and Westin Resorts Denarau Island, Fiji.

“The new look rooms will be warm and welcoming, providing guests with many of the creature comforts of home while the expanded recreational facilities will ensure that the Sheraton Fiji Resort remains a wonderland for families and vacationers looking for a fun, action filled holiday. Furthermore, the enhancement of the extensive meeting and conference facilities along with the variety of exciting and unique outdoor function spaces, will place the resort as the most versatile and innovative conference and incentive venue in the South Pacific island of Fiji.”

The Sheraton Fiji Resort is set on 25 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds and as such will have no impact during it’s closure on the enjoyment of guest staying at other resorts on Denarau Island and in fact the Sheraton Villas and the Westin resort will be adding additional activities and extending restaurant hours to ensure guests continue to be spoilt for choice.
