Malaysia Association of Hotels (MAH) has announced the appointment of Marco Giovanni Battistotti as the new Chairman for the Penang Chapter with immediate effect. Marco who is the General Manager of G Hotel, Penang takes over the Chairman position from Arbind Shrestha, formely General Manager of Rasa Sayang Shangri-la Resort.
"I am delighted to be taking over as Chairman of the MAH in Penang at such an exciting time. Penang is a tourist hot spot and I am very confident that if we pull together as a united industry with a visionary approach, we can achieve our ambition to grow tourism in Penang. I would like to thank Arbind for his exceptional work in leading the Chapter over the past two years and look forward, together with the Committee and all Members to continue the success of MAH Penang."
Marco Battistotti received his professional training in Italy, Germany & the U.K. and has garnered over 25 years experience in the hospitality industry worldwide with postings in Monaco, Germany, England, Italy, Bahrain, Malta, Nigeria, Egypt and Singapore. Throughout his distinguished career, Marco has held senior managerial positions with the exclusive St. James’s Club in London and International chains including Moevenpick, Sheraton, Le Meridien and Westin.
His most recent posting was in Le Meridien Hotel in Singapore before joining G Hotel. "My stint in Singapore has equipped me with invaluable knowledge of the hotel industry in South East Asia and better understanding of the Asian business and culture," said the 40-year old Battistotti. Married with three children, Battistotti speaks fluent Italian, German, French and English.
"We will work closely with the Tourism Ministry as well as Penang State’s Tourism body to make Penang Island the destination of choice in South East Asia. Through our excellent service standards and facilities of all the hotels in Penang, we offer our guests a refreshing experience in a unique destination" quipped Battistotti.
