Regent Seven Seas Cruises is celebrating the music, dance and culture of French Polynesia aboard the 330-guest Paul Gauguin. A new “Polynesian Night” is now offered during one evening of each voyage.
Polynesian Night features exciting and enlightening entertainment direct from the people of Tahiti, with arts and crafts demonstrations, special decorations in public rooms, and Polynesian-themed dinners available in Paul Gauguin’s two main restaurants.
“Our love for the Polynesian people and admiration of their heritage and culture is evident throughout our ship and remains a key part of our guests’ experience,” said Mark Conroy, President of Regent Seven Seas Cruises. “As operators of the only luxury vessel offering Tahiti cruises year-round, we feel a special responsibility to faithfully bring the music, dance and craftwork of French Polynesia to our guests.”
Departing roundtrip from Tahiti, Paul Gauguin will sail throughout French Polynesia in 2008 and 2009, offering seven-night Society Islands cruises, a handful of 10-, 11- and 14-night voyages in the region, and rare opportunities to sail to and from Brisbane, Australia on two 16-night cruises in January 2009. Ports of call include Bora Bora, located at the center of a multicolored lagoon surrounded by offshore "motu" islets inside a protective coral necklace; Moorea, home to spectacular bays and volcanic peaks reflected in the waters of Cook's Bay and Opunohu Bay; and Huahine, one of the most picturesque and geographically diverse islands in the Society Group.
Paul Gauguin, which recently celebrated its 10th consecutive year of uninterrupted service in Tahiti, is the region’s premiere ultra luxury cruise vessel, perfectly suited to the balmy days, sultry nights and inspiring panoramas of the South Pacific. The ship’s spacious public rooms and informal but luxurious environment evoke Tahiti’s tranquil atmosphere while the friendly onboard staff reflects the welcoming nature of the French Polynesian people.
On board, guests experience entertainment and enrichment programs that draw from and also celebrate Tahiti’s culture and inspiring natural environment. Young guests and parents aboard Paul Gauguin may also participate in an exciting enrichment program designed to teach vacationers ways in which they can help protect the earth. Ambassadors of the Environment, created by famed ocean explorer Jean-Michel Cousteau, son of Jacques Cousteau, provides families aboard Paul Gauguin with shared experiences in learning the skills and practices to ensure a sustainable environment. Ideal for families traveling together, the program, run by Cousteau’s Ocean Futures Society, gives all participants direct, hands-on experiences and knowledge of marine eco-systems, while emphasizing the critical importance of conservation. Through slide shows, hikes, snorkeling excursions and discussions, families are introduced to the natural wonders of the region’s environment and their residents. The optional program is offered during the summer months and over the holidays.
