Banyan Tree Holdings Ltd., a leading developer, designer and operator of top-tier hotels, resorts, spas, residences and retail galleries worldwide, has made strategic inroads into the Middle East market over the past three years. The Group’s latest project is Angsana Hotel & Suites Dubai - which will add 417 suites and 364 hotel rooms to the dynamic hotel industry in the Emirates when it opens this year. Located along Sheikh Zayed Road, this property will also be the first city hotel under the Angsana brand.
At the recent Arabian Travel Market (ATM), which took place in Dubai from 6 to 9 May 2008, the Group showcased some of its finest resorts. Currently, there are 10 properties in the Middle East slated to open over the next three years - which include developments in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Jordan, and Oman. This will increase Banyan Tree’s total number of rooms in the Middle East by 30-fold. With an expected additional 2252 rooms available by 2011, Banyan Tree will emerge as a leading contender in the crucial Middle East leisure and business hub.
Pioneering Presence
The Group officially opened its first resort in the Middle East in April 2007. Banyan Tree Desert Spa and Resort, Al Areen in Bahrain is the only all-villa private pool and jet pool resort in the Arabian Gulf. A key feature is the 10,000 square metre spa & hydrothermal circuit - a world first in terms of size, design and treatments. Prior to Banyan Tree Al Areen, the Group had planted its presence in the region with award-winning standalone spas – four Angsana Spas in Dubai, and Elements Spa by Banyan Tree in Kuwait.

Angsana Hotel & Suites Dubai (2008)
Centrally located along Sheikh Zayed Road, Angsana Hotel & Suites Dubai is the flagship property of Angsana Hotels and Resorts in the Middle East. Consisting of two towers – the Suites Tower and the Hotel Tower, it is within minutes to Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre, Dubai World Trade Centre and Dubai International Financial Centre. The Suites Tower boasts 417 fully-furnished and serviced suites, while the Hotel Tower offers 364 guestrooms, One-Bedroom, Premier One-Bedroom and Two-Bedroom suites spread over three different floor categories – Deluxe Floor, Angsana Club Floor and Luxury Floor. Banyan Tree Ras Al Khaimah (2008)
The exclusive desert resort of Banyan Tree Ras Al Khaimah will be located in tranquil Wadi Khadeja, the protected enclave of the deep-rooted Arabian Ghaf tree. Featuring 70 pool villas and 31 tented pool villas, the resort holds true to traditional Arabic architecture amidst miles of rolling sand dunes. Banyan Tree Spa offers 10 treatment pavilions and a hydrothermal circuit with a hammam and vitality pool for desert-style pampering, while restaurant and meeting facilities cater for up to 120 guests. Situated 20 kilometres away from the vibrant Ras Al Khaimah city centre, natural attractions include water skiing, archery, camel riding, wadi safaris, and dhow river cruises.
Banyan Tree Al Gurm Marine Reserve and Spa, Abu Dhabi (2009)
Located in a beautiful marine reserve off the western rim of Abu Dhabi island, Banyan Tree Al Gurm features 18 exclusive tropical islands and a spa and hydrothermal complex, fringed by emerald green mangrove forests, which is home to over 60 species of birds. The resort will showcase 70 private pool villas centred round a lagoon and 90 exclusive pool villas, all served by the renowned Banyan Tree Spa. It will also include a world-class health and fitness club, meeting facilities, boutiques and a signature seafood restaurant accessible only by boat. In keeping with an eco-friendly and strict “wildlife first” policy, the low-rise accommodation will be developed to ensure minimum disturbance to wildlife and the surrounding natural flora and fauna.
Banyan Tree Meydan, Dubai (2010)
The first golf and equestrian resort in the Middle East, Banyan Tree Meydan will comprise around 75 pool villas, complete with resort facilities that include Banyan Tree’s signature F&B facilities and the award-winning Banyan Tree Spa. The property will be the first pool villa-driven product in Dubai, and it is located in Meydan City, an integrated development in the heart of Dubai. The hotel complex, The Meydan – also operated by Banyan Tree – will adjoin the grandstand, with all rooms and suites having a direct unobstructed view of the racetrack. Guests will enjoy convenient access to the Meydan Racecourse as well as the Meydan Golf Course.
Banyan Tree Sifa and Angsana Sifa, Oman (2011)
Located within the region’s first upscale integrated resort in Sifa, Oman, the Banyan Tree and Angsana resorts are positioned as the anchor properties in a development that comprises more than five hotels, a marina town, retail facilities and an 18-hole golf course. The integrated resort spans an area of more than 650 hectares and will be the largest lifestyle and entertainment facility in the Oman region. Strongly influenced by traditional Omani architecture, both Banyan Tree and Angsana resort properties will be designed by Banyan Tree’s in-house design division Architrave Design and Planning, and will comprise more than 210 villas and suites, multiple F&B outlets, dedicated spa facilities and more than 120 residential units for sale.
