Hilton and Doubletree Hotels Continue Expansion in Caribbean & Latin America

Brands Continue Growth with New Properties and Extensive Renovations

Hilton Hotels & Resorts and Doubletree Hotels & Resorts in the Caribbean and Latin America are taking travelers to new places, with expansion into new destinations and the launch of renovation programs delivering the best each region has to offer. From the pristine islands of the Caribbean to the southernmost city in the world, Hilton and Doubletree cover it all.

NEW PROPERTIES:

Hilton continues to grow the brand in Argentina with plans to open two managed hotels in 2009: a 150-room hotel in Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost city, and a 158-room resort in Puerto Iguazu, site of Iguazu Falls and one of Argentina’s most visited destinations. The resort will be one of the first to offer direct access to Iguazu Falls through boat tours departing from an on-site marina.

Hilton plans to open a first-class hotel in Bogota, Colombia’s capital and largest city. The 245-guestroom Hilton Bogota is scheduled for completion in mid-2009 and will be Hilton’s second managed hotel in Colombia.

Hilton has announced that is has entered into a franchise license agreement for the Hilton Bonaire. The 144-room upscale resort is expected to debut in 2010.

Doubletree® Hotels has announced that it plans to introduce the brand’s first upscale, full-service hotel product in the Caribbean. The renovation of the 184-room Hotel Pierre at Gallery Plaza is expected for completion later this year, at which time the Doubletree Hotel by Hilton San Juan will open its doors.

Hilton kicked off 2008 with the opening of three managed properties in Costa Rica: 202-room Hilton Papagayo Resort Costa Rica in Guanacaste; 315-room all-inclusive Doubletree Resort by Hilton Costa Rica – Puntarenas; and the 222-room Doubletree Cariari by Hilton San Jose. All properties experienced major renovations prior to opening.

NEW RENOVATIONS:

Major renovations were unveiled this year at hotels and resorts throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. The multi-million investment transformed guestrooms, health clubs, meeting spaces, and public areas.

Hilton Buenos Aires embarked on a $2.3 million renovation campaign encompassing all 417 rooms, making it the first hotel in the city to take on a renovation of such scale with only seven years in operation. The hotel has already invited guests to experience 372 completely renovated rooms, including Executive Floor rooms and four corner suites. An additional 33 rooms are scheduled for completion this month, with the final 12 rooms slated for 2009. Renovations cover almost every aspect of the rooms, including new bedding accessories, chenille covered headboards, 32” high definition LCD television, carpet, wallpaper, upholstery, drapes, flooring, artwork, lighting, and more.

In response to the growing demand of business travelers looking for a comfortable and safe place to stay for extended periods of time,Hilton São Paulo Morumbi introduces a new 2,185 sq. ft. residential suite. Perfect for the executive and family, the suite features a living room, dining room, complete kitchen, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The Hilton São Paulo Morumbi offers an additional 14 residential suites ranging in size from 860 to 1,185 square feet and a 3,875 sq. ft. presidential suite.

Hilton Cartagena debuted a brand new $5 million executive tower, adding 53 non-smoking rooms to the property. The new tower, adjacent to the convention center in the hotel’s north wing, features 46 executive guest rooms and seven executive suites, all with access to the new executive lounge. The new rooms are outfitted with the latest decor and technology, offering guests a contemporary look and tropical flare, with soundproof, double glass panel windows, LCD television, a dedicated work area, king or queen Hilton Serenity Collection™ beds, rain shower in bathroom, and more. This addition is the latest in Hilton Cartagena’s upgrades, following the opening of the hotel’s new spa late last year.

Hilton Colón Quito’s $2 million makeover featured 213 upgraded rooms in the Santa Maria Tower, offering new décor, refurbished furnishings, and a Hilton HHonors floor. The hotel completed the renovation by converting 82 rooms in the hotel’s La Pinta tower into 42-premium Executive Suites. Hilton Colón Quito Executive Suites were designed to have independent areas with a relaxing bedroom, separate living room and two bathrooms, offering superb comfort with exclusive Hilton Serenity Collection bedding, 37" HD-LCD televisions, and hydro-massage in an ample marble bathroom. The tower will also have a new executive lounge and three new meeting rooms.

Doubletree El Pardo by Hilton, in Lima, Peru, welcomed 2008 with the addition of 41 new guest rooms and plans to renovate the remaining 110 rooms by the end of this year. The new rooms deliver new furniture amidst a modern décor, as well as special amenities. A new VIP lounge is also available offering complimentary beverages and snacks.

Hilton Curaçao features upgrades to its exterior, lobby, and meetings facilities. The 196-room beachfront property will debut a renovated Willemstad Meeting room this month, following the recent completion of a lobby and entrance beautification project.

Hilton Ponce Golf & Casino Resort unveiled a brand-new 6,240 sq. ft. Salon Pavilion Exhibition Center, ideal for social events, exhibitions, and meetings for up to 550 people.

As part of its ongoing renovations campaign, Hilton Trinidad & Conference Centre recently introduced four presidential suites, with complete updates to bedding, furniture, bathrooms, and more.
