Francisco Gomez, Regional Vice President, Rocky Mountain Region & General Manager, The Fairmont Banff Springs, is pleased to announce the appointment of
ROGER SOANE
General Manager, The Fairmont Chateau Whistler,
effective September 1, 2008.
Roger brings a wealth of international hospitality experience to this position, beginning his career with culinary training at the Four Seasons and Browns hotels in London, before embarking on a series of appointments, including Executive Chef, Sonargaon Pan Pacific Hotel, Dhaka, Bangladesh. In 1990, Roger joined The Pan Pacific Hotel, Vancouver as Director of Food & Beverage and held that position until 1995 when he was appointed Director of Operations, The Pan Pacific Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In 1996 Roger returned to Canada and joined our Company as Director of Operations, The Fairmont Empress and held that position until 2000 when he was appointed Hotel Manager, The Fairmont Banff Springs. In 2001 Roger was promoted to General Manager, The Fairmont Palliser and in 2002, he transferred to The Fairmont Royal Pavilion as General Manager. In 2005, Roger was appointed to his most recent position as General Manager, The Fairmont Empress.
Roger is a graduate of Westminster Hotel College, London, England and holds a Diploma in City & Guilds and Hotel Management.

SAMANTHA JERVIS
Account Director, Tour and Leisure Sales, The Fairmont Chateau Whistler,
effective September 2, 2008.
From September 2006 Samantha was with the King Pacific Lodge as Associate Director of Sales handling all luxury minded tour operators and elite travel agents, including Virtuoso, Signature and AMEX. Previous to relocating back to Canada, from 2003-2006 Samantha lived in Marbella, Spain working as the Director of Membership & Sales for Revo 250 Private Luxury Members Club. She has also held positions of Director of Membership Sales and Marketing and the Director of Sales & Marketing - Golf & Membership for the Five Star Lux Hotel Villa Padierna & Flamingos Golf Club - which is now managed buy Ritz Carlton. From 1999 to 2001 Samantha also worked in Playa del Carmen, Mexico for the Royal Hideaway All Inclusive Luxury Resort & Spa as Director of Group, Sales & Marketing - International Markets.
Samantha holds an Associates Degree in Hospitality Management from Georgian College in Toronto, and also has a Bachelor of Science from Florida International University.
MARK WOOD
Sales Manager, Western USA, The Fairmont Chateau Whistler,
effective September 2, 2008.
Prior to accepting his new position with Fairmont, Mark was the Art Director for Princess Fine Arts from April 2002. He managed the daily operations of the Fine Arts program on Princess Cruise Lines including all sales & marketing, and managing a team of 12. From September 1995 to March 2001 Mark was the Director - Sales & Marketing for Western Canada for The Holiday Network where he managed a sales force of 8 managers with a territory representing over $35 million annually. He developed advertising campaigns with airlines, car rental companies, cruise lines, tourism associations and hoteliers throughout Europe, Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean.
Mark has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario.
