-Michael Sagild has been appointed CEO of Stein Management Company International following the recent investment by KOP Group, Singapore. Michael's appointment is aimed at facilitating Stein's expansion into the global hotel market from its base in Europe, augmenting its initial brand extension into Asia and North America.
Stein Hotels and Resorts will continue as the consumer-facing brand, but the operating company's name will change to Stein Management Company International to reflect its restructuring into a global platform for the luxury hotel industry. As such Stein Management Company International will develop itself into the most significant management company in the world for its specialist sector - boutique luxury lifestyle hotels.
Michael Sagild's appointment will be supported by the promotion of Thierry Naidu to the post of Chief Operating Officer for Stein Management Company International.
Michael Sagild
Michael Sagild has over 25 years of hotel management experience on four continents. From January 2006 until recently, Michael was the Chief Operating Officer for Minor Hotels and Resorts in Bangkok, overseeing a USD320 million turnover. Prior to this, Michael was Managing Director for Le Meridien's Asia Pacific region. A graduate of Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne, he later achieved a diploma in the Advanced Management Program of Cornell School of Hotel Management. Michael is Danish and speaks English, French, Danish and Swedish fluently, and has knowledge of German.
His proven abilities as an industry leader, strong record of exemplary owner relationships, and extensive multinational experience, together with his excellent interpersonal skills will enable Stein to develop onto a global platform.
Michael will commence his position on November 10th 2008.
Thierry Naidu
Thierry was born in Mauritius and is a resident in France and has 25 years experience in the hotel sector. Presently he is President of Stein Management Company Europe. Formerly General Manager of Chateau de la Chevre D'Or, which is located in Eze in the south of France, it was a position which he held for twelve years. Under Thierry's direction, the property developed into what is now considered to be one of the best hotels in the world. Thierry's other responsibilities included the managing of five restaurants, bars and a catering company. He was also a member of the International Board of Directors of Relais & Chateaux, President of the Tourist Board of Eze and Vice President of Les Palaces Cote d'Azur. Thierry speaks French, English, Italian and Spanish.
