In a constant effort to preserve the authenticity of its destinations, Victoria Hotels & Resorts has always been promoting the cultural richness of Vietnam and Cambodia with unique packages and tours not only to discover local inhabitants' daily life but also to share unforgettable moments with them.
Earlier this year, Victoria Sapa Resort & Spa welcomed one class from the Ho Chi Minh City French School - Ecole Colette and designed a special program for the 7 to 8 years old school children. The aim of the school project was to help the children to discover the multi-cultural country that they live in, the concept of sharing and opening up to a different “world” through art.
One of the Ecole Colette's ideas was to teach the children painting using Sapa minority tribes as models and with the help of Mrs Helene Kling, a well-know French painter based in Vietnam. After 9 sessions of hard work and learning the techniques of oil painting in Ho Chi Minh City, the children all flew to Hanoi and boarded the Victoria Express Train to start this exciting 3-day adventure trip. Among many other activities, Victoria Sapa Resort & Spa invited the children from a local minority school to meet the French pupils for a film and photo projection. As part of the cultural exchange, the Black Hmong and Dao minorities put up a splendid live performance of traditional music. The schoolchildren also enjoyed an overnight stay experience in a typical minority home where they participated in cooking classes for their dinner with the help of their local hosts.
Victoria Hotels & Resorts is proud to collaborate with the French school - Ecole Colette for this project and believes strongly in the education of the young generation on issues relating to environmental protection and culture preservation.
