the Waldorf Astoria Collection, is celebrating the New Year with the completion of more than $50 million in upgrades and renovations.
Featuring newly remodeled guest rooms, a refreshed spa and fitness center, updated restaurant and lounges, remodeled beach and pool, and up-to-the-minute technology upgrades across the resort, Grand Wailea’s charm and founding elements of trees, water, flowers, art, light and sound more prominent and enjoyable than ever.
Features which have been newly renovated and are ready for guests’ enjoyment include:
• Guest rooms: Designed to create a unique and luxurious residential experience consistent with The Waldorf Astoria Collection, the rooms welcome guests with a tasteful blend of Western and Polynesian décor, including new carpeting, freshlypainted walls, beautiful dark wood furnishings and 37” flat-screen televisions. The bathrooms have been enhanced with new frameless shower enclosures, upgraded
fixtures, lighting and artwork, complimenting the existing oversized soaking tubs, marble vanities, and sinks and accessories.
• Wailea Canyon Activity Pool: With a total project cost of $1.6 million, the newly restored Wailea Canyon Activity Pool features fresh color-schemes that compliment the original colors of Wailea Canyon when it opened in 1991.
All water features -
seven separate pools including a baby beach, seven waterslides, the world’s first water elevator, caves, waterfalls and Jacuzzis, have been re-tiled and re-plastered to enhance guest enjoyment and relaxation in and out of the water.
• Spa Grande: Recently named “Top Hotel Spa in Hawaii” by Travel and Leisure magazine, Spa Grande, also completed a beautification project with new carpet, furniture throughout the spa, carpet and updated lighting. Its Grand Salon features new manicure, pedicure, shampoo and make-up stations and the state of the art fitness center features new top of line Precor fitness equipment.
• Dining: Offering six restaurants, lounges and bars to choose from, Grand Wailea completed several upgrades to its food and beverage venues including a complete renovation of the famous Botero Bar.

Fronting the spectacular Wailea Beach on 40 acres of lush, tropical gardens, Grand, Wailea was originally designed with the goal of serving as a cultural asset for Hawaii with real value to locals and travelers. This goal was the inspiration for the resort’s theme centering on the elements of water, light, sound, flowers, trees and art.
The importance placed on water is evident in the streams, waterfalls, lagoons and pools throughout the property, which originate from the slopes of Mount Haleakala. Light spills throughout the resort with sunsets visible from all guest rooms. Sound fills the resort from the sound of nearby waterfalls and musicians. The resort offers one of the largest flower displays in Hawaii and over 2,000 palm trees are planted on the hotel’s grounds.
Finally, many of the resort’s artworks, which include original paintings, sculpture, graphics, murals and artifacts, have a Hawaiian cultural background. The resort’s exquisite art collection includes works by international, regional, and local artists, including Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Fernando Botero, and Fernand Leger.
