Offers 30 percent savings on golf, spa and dining

Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa may be turning 30, but the "new desert cool" is still a hot property thanks to a recent $35 million makeover. To celebrate 30 years of desert cool, the resort is offering guests an anniversary-sized special worthy of its achievement - namely 30 percent savings on its award-winning golf, spa and dining.

Guests who book between now and February 28, 2009, for any stay in 2009, will receive a 30 percent savings on all golf, spa and dining during their visit. The 30 percent savings is valid for overnight resort guests and activities must be booked at time of reservation. Reservations can be made at www.rancholaspalmas.com or by calling 1-800-423-1195.

When Rancho Las Palmas opened in February 1979, Palm Springs had never known anything like it. While celebrities such as Cary Grant, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans looked on, guest of honor Bob Hope christened the property by hitting a golf shot through a ribbon which burst into flames, leading to fireworks and an exultant release of balloons. Rancho Las Palmas was the first desert resort to remain open year-round, and it established immediate appeal as a getaway of choice for celebrities and tourists looking for a luxury desert escape. It was described as the ultimate recreational resort with the best of everything and the resort's opening general manager Bob Small, who still lives in the community, set out to make it the desert's first five-star property.

Today, following a recent $35 million makeover, Rancho Las Palmas offers a fresh, new look, but remains a desert hot spot. The resort is an ideal getaway for families, couples or groups of friends who will enjoy the array of amenities such as the new two-acre water complex Splashtopia including two 100-foot water slides, 425-foot lazy river, expansive swimming pool, water play-zone, and sandy beach; the recently opened Kidtopia, a kids camp designed to actively engage children through play; the stylish new bluEmber restaurant, a round of golf or a day of pampering at the Spa Las Palmas, which has debuted a tranquil new interior and a new menu with treatments customized to each individual.
