Sol Meliá has signed an agreement with the Madrid-based promoter Nuplanta to manage a five star hotel in the Quinta do Vale Resort on the Portuguese Algarve from the first half of 2012. In addition to the hotel, the exclusive resort consists of 66 luxury villas with large gardens, a “village” with 57 units, a golf course designed by Severiano Ballesteros, and a riverside marina. The hotel will operate under the Meliá brand name and provide all of the services and facilities expected of the brand, one of the most well-known in the hotel industry.
The new Meliá Golf Quinta do Vale will become the thirteenth Sol Meliá hotel in Portugal and one of its flagship properties at all levels, given that it forms part of the Quinta do Vale Resort, a development classified by the Portuguese government as a Project of National Interest given its role as a driver of growth in the local economy, its innovative nature, privileged location and important environmental protection and energy-saving features.
Hotel guests will enjoy the most comfortable facilities and services as well as a great range of dining and leisure options featuring an exclusive spa, an authentic source of rest and relaxation with spectacular views. The hotel will also provide excellent facilities for congresses and incentive trips with modern installations perfectly adapted to all of the needs of business travellers.
The hotel will lie alongside an 18-hole golf course designed by Severiano Ballesteros and perfectly integrated with the natural environment, with each of the 18 holes adding its own personality and variety to make the game a great experience for both beginners and more experienced golfers.
Another of the most outstanding features of the hotel and Quinta do Vale is the creation of a riverside marina on the banks of the Guadiana river which will allow the mooring of leisure boats and provide access to a stretch of 40 kilometres of river all year round.
The new hotel extends the Sol Meliá portfolio in Portugal, a country in which it already operates 12 hotels (the company also recently added the Meliá Madeira Mare under a management agreement), and broadens its commitment to the golf segment, a sport which is complementary to the features of the Meliá hotels brand and its guest experience.
