Distinguished International® Hotels, Residences and Resorts is pleased to welcome Tom Reid, Proprietor and his team at the Glasson Hotel and Golf Club in Athlone, Ireland, as the newest member of its international properties.
Located less than one mile from the geographical centre of Ireland and within 2 hours of most places in the country, this stunning 4-star hotel and golf club offers 65 spacious and beautifully appointed luxury bedrooms and suites.
The Manor House which dates back to 1780 has been owned by the Reid family for three generations. Tom & Breda Reid converted their family farm in 1993 and today, along with other family members, are praised for running one of Ireland’s best full service hotel and golf clubs.
Rooms are unusually spacious and elegantly appointed, with the most modern of amenities such as heated tiled floors in the bathroom, large separate walk-in showers, fluffy duvets, individually air-conditioned rooms and balconies on request. There is also complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the property.
The hotel’s highly-acclaimed chef highlights local produce in his menu, with food served until 10pm in the main dining area situated in the Manor House and where panoramic views of the grounds fill all the senses. During the cooler months, a roaring fire in the conservatory adds welcomed warmth to the ambiance.
Set on the banks of the Lough Ree amid one of the finest woodland/Parkland courses in Ireland, the setting provides the ideal location for the Christy O’Connor Jr. Design golf course. Ranked among Ireland’s top 30 courses by Golf Digest, it has also been the host to the Europe and Challenge Tour in 2007 & 2008, proving to be an enjoyable challenge for the best and up and coming professionals in today’s game.
The Glasson Hotel and Golf Club also provides two fully equipped conference rooms with superb views over the Golf Course and Lough Ree. Its idyllic setting and attentive staff have also made it an increasingly popular destination for weddings.
