Great Hotels Organisation announces four new member hotels to its family of brands, Great Hotels of the World and Special Hotels of the World.

Hacienda Tres Rios Cancun, Mexico
Great Hotels of the World (GHOTW: http://www.ghotw.com), representing some of the world’s finest independent hotels and resorts, is delighted to announce Hacienda Tres Rios in Cancun, Mexico as one of its newest members.
Located just south of Cancun in the heart of the Riviera Maya and surrounded by 326 acres of pristine jungle, mangrove forest, coastal dunes and white sandy beach, Hacienda Tres Rios is a recently-opened luxury eco-friendly resort.
Welcoming guests from November 2008, Hacienda Tres Rios boasts 273 spacious suites, ranging from 645 to 2063 square feet. The suites are modern in design yet inspired by the traditional Mexican hacienda style using native materials. Most suites feature a Jacuzzi for two and breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea.
The resort’s location in the Tres Rios Nature Park, amongst tropical jungle and three fresh-water rivers makes it a popular eco-tourism destination with numerous opportunities to discover the area. The resort believes in environmentally sustainable development through the intelligent and responsible use of ecosystems and natural resources.
The recently opened (April 2009) 13,900 square foot luxury Ya’ax Ché Spa features two couples suites with private hydro-therapy baths, seven treatment rooms, a lounge area with cold plunge pool, indoor pool, salt-water pool, Swiss and chromotherapy showers, sauna, steam room and fully equipped gym. The spa also offers a variety of massage and body treatments and is one of few spas offering traditional Mayan purification and relaxation experience called “Temazcal”, a Mexican bath used for centuries for curative and therapeutic purposes.
The resort boasts nine restaurants serving world-class cuisine including Asian-fusion, Italian, seafood and of course Mexican.
Other outstanding facilities include Tres Rios Nature Park, a private yacht club, equestrian activities, guided eco-park tours, snorkeling and diving in the second-largest barrier reef in the world, a 500-seat ballroom and two rivers for swimming and kayaking.
Hacienda Tres Rios will be hosting the World Travel Awards 2009 this September.
