Marriott International Introduces its Residence Inn by Marriott Brand to Costa Rica with Opening of Residence Inn by Marriott San Jose Escazu

Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE: MAR) announced today the opening of its first Residence Inn by Marriott hotel in Central America. The Residence Inn by Marriott San Jose Escazu (http://www.marriott.com/sjori) in Costa Rica is operated under a management agreement with Caribe Hospitality.

“We are providing a new and innovative all-suites choice for travelers in San Jose,” said Adolfo Carit, general manager, “Our suites provide more space compared to conventional hotel rooms and include separate areas for relaxing, working, dining and sleeping. We are a great value for travelers.” The hotel is located approximately 15 minutes from downtown San Jose, and 20 minutes from the Juan Santamaria International Airport.

The hotel offers 109 spacious suites, ranging from studio to two-bedroom accommodations. Designed for stays of five nights or more, each suite includes a fully-equipped kitchen and separate living area, complimentary high speed internet access, complementary grocery service, flat screen TV, and Marriott’s highly acclaimed bed and bath linens. A welcoming staff will help guests to continue their life's pace and routines while away from home. Residence Inn provides a moderately-priced, tiered rate structure that enables guests to experience discounted rates for longer stays.

A complimentary hot breakfast buffet, HomeTouch™ is available each morning in the lobby area. Other hotel facilities and services include an outdoor swimming pool, fitness center, business center, The Market 24-hour mini supermarket, and a complimentary weekly social hour. The hotel also offers two meeting rooms designed to accommodate meetings or events.

Residence Inn is Marriott’s second largest lodging brand with nearly 600 properties in North and Central America and the Caribbean. Residence Inn participates in the award-winning Marriott Rewards frequent guest program which is the world’s largest frequent stay program with 28 million members. Members can earn points toward free vacations or frequent flyer miles in their preferred airline program at more than 3,000 Marriott hotels in 65 countries.

Residence Inn by Marriott is a moderately priced extended stay brand that helps guests to thrive on long stays. Spacious suites with full kitchens offer the comforts of the modern home, while associates provide intuitive service with a human touch. With nearly 600 properties in North and Central America and the Caribbean, Residence Inn is Marriott’s second largest lodging brand, with another 154 hotels on the way, including a new Residence Inn prototype customized for the European market -- the Residence Inn by Marriott Munich Orleansstrasse – opening in 2011.
