One of the most frequent purchases in the gift shops of The Ritz-Carlton Hotels and Resorts around the world is the award-winning hotel company’s signature golf shirt with the iconic lion and crown logo. Now, the company has taken a further step in its strong commitment to encouraging an eco-friendly lifestyle, by launching a private label “green” polo shirt with Oxford Industries of Atlanta, Ga.
The Earth-Tech™ shirt is a new and innovative product made from recycled polyester, derived from plastic bottles, which is knit with cotton to create a hybrid performance fabric. The polo, exclusive to The Ritz-Carlton, will be available at gift shops this December at the company’s domestic and Caribbean properties. In addition to its eco-friendly fabrication, the Earth-Tech™ polo also features a special finish that adds both Super Dry® moisture-wicking for comfort and antimicrobial performance to help repel odor.
“As an avid golfer, I am delighted for The Ritz-Carlton to introduce this practical, yet earth preserving garment, to the many logo items available to our guests”, said Simon F. Cooper, president and chief operating officer. “This keeps plastic materials out of landfills and creates a new purpose for them as polyester yarns knit with cotton yarns to create a performance mesh fabric with a light-weight, luxurious hand feel,” explained Oxford Golf president Dave Leveille.
Polo shirt wearers will appreciate the design of open sleeves and a heat-transferred Ritz-Carlton label for added comfort. Even the shirt’s hang tag is produced from recycled paper and has a matte finish allowing for the tag to be recycled yet again.
Available in a range of colors, at a retail price of $60, this newest environmentally sensitive offering from The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company makes the perfect holiday gift for those who enjoy style, and wish to do their part to preserve the planet. A $5 donation to The Ritz-Carlton Community Footprints Fund, benefiting global environmental and social causes, will be made for each "green" logo shirt purchase.
