Award-Winning U.S. Airline Teams Up With Hilton HHonors to Allow Travelers More Ways to Earn Free Flights

Hilton HHonors, the loyalty program for the Hilton Worldwide portfolio of hotels, today announced a partnership with Virgin America, the California-based airline that is reinventing domestic travel. Starting today, members of the Hilton HHonors frequent-guest program and the 1.1 million members in Virgin America’s Elevate Frequent Flyer program can earn points toward free* Virgin America flights for stays at any of the more than 3,400 properties across Hilton Worldwide’s portfolio of hotel brands.

“Hilton Worldwide is always looking for new and compelling ways to reward our Hilton HHonors members,” said Jeff Diskin, Senior Vice President, Global Customer Marketing, Hilton Worldwide. “By partnering with one of the most innovative airlines in the U.S., we’re offering members a new way to explore the country in style.”

Hilton HHonors and Virgin America Elevate members earning either fixed or variable points and miles will have the opportunity to earn one (1) Elevate point for every two (2) dollars spent at participating Hilton Worldwide hotels. Members who choose a fixed points earning style and stay at a participating Hilton, Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Doubletree, Embassy Suites Hotels, Hilton Garden Inn, Hilton Grand Vacations and Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts will earn 250 Elevate points per stay, or 50 Elevate points per stay at a participating Hampton, Homewood Suites by Hilton and Home2 Suites by Hilton hotel.

Launched in August 2007, Virgin America has won a growing list of reader-based awards, including top honors last month as “Best Domestic Airline” in Condé Nast Traveler’s 2009 Readers’ Choice Awards. The airline offers business and leisure travelers innovative amenities like touch-screen entertainment, power outlets at every seat and fleetwide Gogo® In-flight Internet. Elevate is Virgin America’s first-of-its-kind Frequent Flyer program, which offers guests the ability to redeem points for any unsold seat – on any Virgin America flight, at any time. Elevate offers Web-based redemption with dynamic pricing and no black-out dates, so guests do not have to jump through hoops to find or book the flights they’ve earned.

“We’re pleased to partner with another world-class travel company to give our loyal Elevate members one more reason to fly with us – and to offer an outstanding travel experience from the moment they take off through their stay at any hotel that participates in Hilton HHonors,” said Porter Gale, Vice President of Marketing at Virgin America. “The breadth of brands, distribution of hotels and various price points that Hilton HHonors offers makes it even easier to earn points wherever your travels take you.”

Hilton HHonors is the only program to offer Points & Miles® as well as No Blackout Dates with no capacity controls at more than 3,400 hotels worldwide in more than 79 countries.

In addition to a Main Cabin that offers custom-designed leather seats with a deeper, more comfortable pitch, Virgin America’s First Class cabin features international-grade amenities, including plush white leather seats with 55 inches of pitch and lumbar massagers. The carrier’s premium cabin option, Main Cabin Select, offers 38-inches of seat pitch, complimentary food and cocktails, an all-access pass to Red’s countless entertainment options, dedicated overhead bin space, and priority check-in and boarding. Virgin America offers more than 100 flights a day with service to San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Washington D.C., Seattle, Las Vegas, San Diego, Boston, Orange County and Fort Lauderdale. Virgin America has flown more than 6.2 million guests since its inaugural flights in August 2007 and now counts 1.1 million Elevate loyalty program members.
