Manoj R K Ujoodha, G.O.S.K., Air Mauritius’ Chief Executive Officer, has been elected to the Board of Governors of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) at the 66th Annual General Meeting and World Air Transport Summit that was held in Berlin from 6 to 8 June 2010.
The IATA Board of Governors exercise an oversight and executive role on behalf of the membership to represent the interests of the Association. The Board is composed of not more than thirty-one (31) persons elected among representatives of IATA’s active members.
Giovanni Bisignani, Director General and CEO of IATA stated “Air Mauritius plays a critical role in connecting Mauritius to the world and has a long tradition of serving on IATA’s boards. I look forward to working with Manoj R K Ujoodha as he joins the IATA Board of Governors. I am sure that he will contribute much to IATA’s important responsibilities to ensure safe, green, efficient and profitable global aviation industry.”
Manoj R K Ujoodha stated “I am honoured and humbled by the trust placed in me by IATA and my peers of the airline industry. It is also a testimony of the international standing of Air Mauritius as it continues to play its role as the national airline of Mauritius.
