Carlson, a privately held, global hospitality and travel company, today announced that Gregory R. Page, chairman and chief executive officer for Cargill, has been elected to the Carlson Board of Directors. The announcement was made by Carlson Chairman Marilyn Carlson Nelson.
Page, who has served as chairman of the board of Cargill since September 2007, CEO since June 2007, and continues to hold the office of president since his appointment in 2000, is the 11th member of Carlson's expanded board. He has served on the Cargill Board of Directors since August 2000.
"We are pleased that Greg will be serving on our board to provide his global perspective on our businesses," Chairman Nelson said. "He has extensive experience leading global enterprises, an in-depth understanding of all facets of multi-unit operations, and is a noted community leader that can provide insight on Carlson's Responsible Business efforts."
Other members of the Carlson Board of Directors are: Brad Anderson, former vice chairman and CEO, Best Buy Co., Inc.; Lee A. Chaden, retired chairman, Hanesbrands Inc.; Barbara Carlson Gage, president, Carlson Family Foundation; Edwin C. "Skip" Gage, chairman and CEO, Gage Marketing Group; Richard C. Gage, CEO and founder of Nebulous/YourMLSsearch.com; Hubert Joly, president and CEO, Carlson; Diana L. Nelson, trustee, Curtis L. Carlson Family Foundation; Glen D. Nelson, M.D., chairman, GDN Holdings, LLC; and Lawrence Perlman, retired chairman and CEO of Ceridian, and former chairman of Seagate Technology.
Spanning more than 35 years, Page has held a number of positions at Cargill in the United States and Singapore. He worked with the start-up of a poultry processing operation in Thailand, the beef and pork processing operations of Cargill's Excel subsidiary in Wichita, Kansas, and the Financial Markets Group in Minneapolis. Page first joined Cargill as a trainee assigned to The Feed Division.
Beyond his leadership role at Cargill, Page serves as a member of Eaton Corporation's board of directors and is chair of the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. He received his bachelor's degree in economics from The University of North Dakota.
