The Crockett Hotel

The Crockett Hotel stands where Davy Crockett and outnumbered settlers defended the southeast palisade of the Alamo during a 13-day siege in 1836. Though defeated, the battle inspired Sam Houston a month later in San Jacinto – "Remember the Alamo!" Built in 1909, the hotel added a seven-story west wing in 1927. A restoration in 1982 earned the hotel a place on the National Register of Historic Structures. The hotel was renovated again in 2007, enhancing the pool/patio area and restoring the suites and meeting space to their former glory.

The Omni Bretton Arms Inn

Built as a private home in 1896, the Omni Bretton Arms Inn opened in 1907. Originally part of the larger Mount Washington and Mount Pleasant Hotels, the inn has hosted a variety of distinguished visitors, including in 1944, when the campus served as headquarters for the Conference Secretariat during the 44-nation Bretton Woods Monetary Conference. The inn closed to become staff housing for the Washington Hotel, but reopened after a restoration in 1986.
