Minor Hotel Group, one of Asia Pacific’s largest leisure and hospitality companies, has announced that in November 2011 it will reflag one of its owned Bangkok properties, the Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa. The riverside resort is set to join Minor’s luxury hotel brand, Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas.

Minor International has enjoyed a strong and fruitful relationship with Marriott over the years and both companies will continue to work together with their additional properties in Thailand, including the JW Marriott in Phuket and Marriott resorts in Pattaya and Hua Hin.

Both parties are working closely to ensure a smooth and efficient transition as the resort is enhanced and upgraded prior to joining Anantara Hotels Resorts & Spas in November 2011. The resort remains fully operational throughout 2011 and all guest bookings remain unaffected.

The reflagging will take place as the resort is a strong brand fit for the rapidly growing Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas which currently boasts 15 properties across Asia, the Middle East and the Indian Ocean. Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa is the city’s only true riverside resort, thus providing Anantara with a one-of-a-kind city resort property. In terms of location, the resort offers an idyllic, quiet tropical retreat, yet is conveniently connected to the city’s vibrant cosmopolitan and cultural attractions via a shuttle boat service to the sky train system, creating a true destination experience for Anantara guests.

The Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa includes 413 rooms, including 94 suites, 10 bars and restaurants, fully equipped meeting and conference rooms, Spa and tropical grounds. Enhancements will take place at the property to reach Anantara’s elite level of indigenous five star luxury.

Dillip Rajakarier, COO of Minor Hotel Group comments, “I wish to extend my sincere thanks to Marriott for such a prosperous partnership, and look forward to many more successful years together with our existing Marriott properties. Looking to other avenues of Minor’s future, I am delighted to see the solid growth of the Anantara brand, now in its 10th year, and a new Bangkok destination will certainly add to the illustrious Anantara portfolio.”

Peter Carmichael, Senior VP of Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas adds, “Anantara has gained a reputation for showcasing indigenous cultural experiences in some of the world’s most exotic locations. The new addition to the Anantara portfolio will undoubtedly prove to be an asset in this regard, with its sought after riverside location providing a perfect match with Anantara’s own charming identity.”
