The Dorchester, Dorchester Collection’s iconic London hotel celebrating 80 years at the helm of luxury London hospitality, has appointed John Scanlon as hotel manager effective from 1 March 2012.

Scanlon moves from his most recent position as director of revenue for parent company Dorchester Collection which he has held since 2008. In this position John was instrumental in embedding a forward thinking revenue management culture across all the company’s hotels, following previous years as revenue manager at The Dorchester.

Prior to this, between 1991 and 2005 Scanlon progressed through The Lanesborough from night manager to reservations manager, then front of house manager, until finally rooms division manager and deputy to the managing director. Previous experience includes positions at Sheraton Skyline, Heathrow Airport and Trusthouse Forte Hotels across England.

Irish born, Scanlon is a strategic and creative thinker with a proven track record for creating and implementing bespoke working practices to improve high quality guest care, for which he is passionate. Reporting to general manager & regional director UK Roland Fasel, Scanlon will oversee all hotel operations at The Dorchester.
Roland Fasel commented: “I am delighted to have John join us in this pivotal role which is responsible for taking key strategy from concept to implementation. He will be a strong player in our vision to keep The Dorchester at the front of the ultra luxury hotel market in London.”

Commenting on his appointment Scanlon said: “I am excited to return to an on-property role at The Dorchester during such a monumental year when the world’s spotlight is on London. I look forward to working with the team to continue The Dorchester’s uncompromising commitment to providing the ultimate in bespoke luxury service to its guests.”
