The transaction strengthens the presence of LVMH in the luxury hospitality sector and complements the hotel activities of the Cheval Blanc Maisons and Bvlgari hotels, renowned for their exceptional service.

Established in 1976 with the acquisition of the Hotel Cipriani in Venice, Belmond owns and operates a collection of exceptional hotel and luxury travel experiences in some of the world’s most inspiring and enriching destinations.
Belmond delivers unique experiences to discerning travelers and owns a number of exceptional assets in the most desirable destinations. Its heritage, its innovative services, its excellence in execution and its entrepreneurial spirit resonate perfectly with the values of our Group,” said Bernard Arnault, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of LVMH.

Operating in 24 countries, Belmond manages 33 hotels, representing 3,100 rooms. Among them are iconic city landmarks such as the Splendido in Portofino, the Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro and the Grand Hôtel Europe in Saint-Petersburg, sanctuaries of calm in former monasteries, the Hotel das Cataratas, a jewel beside the Isuassu Falls in Brazil, or the Sanctuary Lodge, nestled at the entrance to the lost city of Machu Picchu. The portfolio also counts heritage palaces such as the Hotel Monasterio in the treasure town of Cusco in Peru, and Villa San Michele, on the hills of Fiesole in Florence.

In addition, Belmond operates seven mythical trains, including the iconic Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, a legend in Art Deco design, and the Belmond Royal Scotsman, which combines Edwardian elegance and the comfort of a country home. Two exceptional cruises, the Belmond Afloat in France and Belmond Road to Mandalay, complete a portfolio that offers extraordinary experiences with curated activities and flawless service.

Through the acquisition of Belmond, LVMH will significantly expand its presence in the world of ultimate luxury hotels, adding a collection of unique experiences in inspiring destinations. They join the hospitality offerings of Cheval Blanc Maisons (in Courchevel, Randheli, Saint-Barthélemy, Saint-Tropez and soon Paris, London and Los Angeles) and Bvlgari (with hotels in Milan, Bali, London, Beijing, Dubai and Shanghai).
