From October 1st 2019, ROOM 701 Hotels Sales Representation is proud to represent Jicaro Island Lodge in Nicaragua, a member of the Cayuga Collection of Sustainable Luxury Hotels & Lodges and the only member of the prestigious National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World in Nicaragua.

Cayuga Sustainable Hospitality is dedicated to managing and developing small, sustainable luxury hotels, resorts and lodges in Latin America. Based in San Jose, Costa Rica, Cayuga proudly led ecolodge and boutique hotel management in Costa Rica, Panama and Nicaragua since 1999. At the Cayuga Collection, the mission is to achieve the ultimate symbiosis of sustainability and luxury.

Jicaro Island Lodge is a Luxury lodge and resort near the colonial town of Granada, Nicaragua, and located on a small private island of volcanic origin, offering spectacular views of the Mombacho Volcano across the lake.
The story of Jicaro Island Lodge is the stuff of daydreams. It begins back in January of 2007 when Karen Emanuel, Jicaro’s owner, was on vacation in Nicaragua.  Exploring the colonial city of Granada, Karen walked into a restaurant and saw a notice proclaiming “Island for Sale”.  Partly as a fantasy but also recognizing Nicaragua’s tourism potential, it caught her eye.  A short boat ride later with the owners followed by a relaxing week at an outstanding eco-lodge on the Nicaraguan coast and an idea had started developing in Karen’s head.  After arriving back home to the bleak London winter, she scribbled down a few figures on the back of an envelope and within a few weeks had wired over a deposit for the island.
With the help of architect Matthew Falkiner and the Cayuga Collection team, the dream became reality: the secluded getaway lapped by the calm waters of Lake Nicaragua was born.

This exclusive, nine-Casita Lodge features a lakeside yoga deck, a romantic and relaxing floating deck out on the lake, a uniquely designed pool and a cenote, bringing the lake onto the island.
The 9 two storey casitas raised up above the ground like a tree house with all lake views are only a short walk from the pool, restaurant, and wellness center.
Cross ventilation plus ceiling fans and shade from the trees keep the Casitas cool without the need for air conditioning.
Built entirely from timber reclaimed from trees blown down by hurricane Felix, the buildings and furniture are made of tropical hardwoods which provide a solid and beautiful environment in harmony with the natural setting.

Jicaro supports the local Padre Nello School in environmental education and infrastructure projects, and has also developed sustainable food programs with the communities of the Isletas.
