Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest has published its 2019 Christmas and New Year’s Eve programme. The upcoming festive season’s offering features ÉS Bisztró and its seasonal special, the Winter Terrace’s Yuletide menus and various entertainment options at the hotel’s culinary complex, the Gastronomic Quarter Downtown Budapest. Located within immediate reach of the city’s most central and dazzling Christmas markets, Kempinski Corvinus remains the number one destination of choice to spend the festive season.

Christmas in Budapest is a most magnificent time of the year. Lit with generously sparkling decorations, the city becomes a fairy tale, bringing together family and friends at iconic Christmas markets to
enjoy the season’s must-haves, such as mulled wine, freshly fried sausages and sweets. Christmas in Budapest is not just a celebration but a feeling!

Defining the centre of the city, the edifice of Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest dons a light-laden appearance for the festive season, inside and out. The lobby’s internal height, at an imposing nine metres, allows for a breathtakingly splendid Christmas tree, richly decorated with baubles, lights and accessories. The ambience is set for a most memorable December for the guests’ stay.

The hotel is located right across from the ferris wheel in Erzsébet Park. On the other side of the hotel, the glamorously decorated, Christmas-light-flooded Fashion Street flanks the building.

ÉS Bisztró’s Winter Terrace opened on Fashion Street on 23 November 2019 and remains open until 31 December 2019. ÉS Winter Terrace serves mulled wine and five different types of hamburgers.

ÉS Bisztró’s popular Sunday brunch concept, Family Table, presents special menus on every Advent Sunday, as well as on 25 December and on New Year’s Day. On 24 December 2019, ÉS Bisztró will serve its specially created Christmas Eve Dinner, accompanied by live music, and on 31 December,
ÉS will offer a four-course New Year’s Eve menu and live music.

This year, the classic and creative cocktail specialist, Blue Fox The Bar, will be open for Christmas dinner, too. On 24 December from 19:00, guests can choose from a festive à la carte selection. On 31 December, Blue Fox The Bar will serve a three-course menu and unlimited Taittinger Champagne until midnight, to DJ tunes.

In the meantime, in town, the world-famous Vörösmarty Square Christmas Fair remains open until 1 January 2020. This is one of the most central markets, complete with certified artisan stalls made of wood, selling folk crafts and folklore-inspired gifts, Hungarian meals, mulled wine and spirits. There’s also a playhouse with arts and crafts activities for children and a stage for concerts and performances.

In a similarly central location, St. Stephen’s Basilica Christmas Market will be open until 1 January 2020. Set against the spectacular backdrop of the cathedral, this Christmas fair remains the most spiritual, also featuring Christmas market signature goods, food and drinks, plus artistic entertainment as well as light painting on the cathedral’s facade.

Not far from the central Christmas markets, along the river runs tram line number 2, which operates a specially lit Christmas tram in winter.

The largest thermal bath in Budapest, Széchenyi Baths in City Park offers an outdoor pool, which is warm enough to enjoy in winter. The outdoor pool is especially popular with locals, who play chess in the steam. Most of the pools are indoors, and guests can also get therapeutic treatments here, taking advantage of the curative properties of the baths’ thermal water.

A stone’s throw from Széchenyi Baths is City Park’s popular ice rink, just off Heroes’ Square. Sprawling over 12,000 square metres, it is the biggest outdoor ice rink in Europe, surrounded by some of the best
imperial architecture in town.

The hotel offers Christmas and New Year’s Eve packages for visitors in
