This year’s Negroni Week is taking place from 12 to 18 September, and Kempinski Palace Portorož is proud to join this event with a good cause.
Starting back in 2013, when Imbibe Magazine launched Negroni Week as a celebration of one of the world’s great cocktails and an effort to raise money for charitable causes around the world, it is now already a tradition that, for one week in September, bars and restaurants all around the world mix classic Negronis and Negroni variations for a great cause with the help of the company Slow Food.
The official Negroni Week charity for 2022 is Slow Food, a longtime Negroni Week partner, which addresses many of the needs that participating Negroni Week venues and the hospitality industry have been most interested in supporting over the past ten years: sustainability, education, equity and diversity, all centred around hospitality, food and drink.
With a global footprint, Slow Food has chapters and initiatives in countries and cities around the world, and it is an organisation with roots in Italy, the birthplace of the Negroni.
Marking the tenth anniversary of Negroni Week in 2022, Kempinski Palace Portorož decided, for the first time, to join this great initiative.
The luxury five-star hotel decided to add its own twist to this great cause by starting a competition among the mixologists and bar managers within the hotel: Each bar leader of the hotel will prepare their own special Negroni and share the recipe.
There will be four drinks prepared: Bojan’s Negroni Antica, Ivan’s Palace Negroni, Nives’ Grapeoni and Jovana’s Reverse Negroni; and guests will be able to taste and try all different Negronis and vote for their favourite.
The winning Negroni with the most votes will then be added to the menus of all bars and restaurants within the hotel for a year, until next year’s competition.
